We are currently recruiting a Principal Engineer Technology to lead our Technology Group with a mission to develop world-beating innovative and performance-enhancing vehicle technologies.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Materials Group and Principal Engineers in Vehicle Engineering championing a first principles approach to technology development leveraging simulation physical testing and innovative manufacturing to facilitate developments that support the future requirements of the Chief Engineers.
As a Principal Engineer Technology you will:
- Lead and inspire the Technology Development function in terms of people and technical focus maximising the use of our skill base across Vehicle Engineering.
- Collaborate closely with our Engineering sections to extract generate and nurture ideas facilitating and managing these ideas to a high level of Technological Readiness.
- Use in-depth technical knowledge of composites mechanical systems and analytical methods within race vehicle design to guide the development of new Technologies.
- Support FiA Technical Liaison with detailed technical regulation analysis.
- Work side by side with Concept Design to maximise application of available Technology and formulate requirements for new Technology.
- Cooperate with Chassis Bodywork and Wings Systems Simulation and Structures to continue to drive forward our homologation structure understanding through improved correlation in simulation and validation tests.
- Combine efforts with Vehicle Test to develop test methods and maximise learning output.
- Support and contribute to the Technology roadmap in conjunction with Head of Vehicle Technology.
- Carry out effective group member performance management building confidence and making sure suitable measures are agreed and taken to close any identified gaps in skills or knowledge
Our ideal candidate is someone who has:
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification supported by experience in a top-level motorsport field.
- Empathetic and effective people management skills.
- Experience of CAD preferably Siemens NX & TEAMCENTRE PLM however training will be provided for conversion from other CAD systems.
- Extensive relevant experience in their area of expertise with strong understanding of materials and manufacturing techniques.
- An analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and trends.
- The ability to engage inspire and support group members to build and maintain a high-performance team culture.
