Out of District (OOD) Coordinator for Special Education
Qualifications:
DESE license in Special Education or related field (Administration
preferred)
Masters degree in Special Education or related field
Minimum of three years experience in special education with experience
in program coordination preferred
Strong knowledge of Special Education regulations
Excellent organizational communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and multitask
Position Summary:
The Special Education Out of District (OOD) Coordinator is responsible for
overseeing the placement monitoring and support of students with disabilities who
are educated in out-of-district placements. This role ensures compliance with all
federal and state regulations and works collaboratively with families outside
agencies and district staff to ensure students receive a free and appropriate public
education.
Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and oversee all out-of-district placements for students
with disabilities.
2. Serve as a liaison between the district families and out-of-district
schools therapeutic programs and residential settings.
3. Schedule and facilitate all IEP Team meetings for students in OOD
programs.
4. Complete all required paperwork before during and after Team
meetings.
5. Write IEPs (as needed) LEA IEPs and input IEPs into the
districts SIS.
6. Conduct yearly site visits of OOD programs to ensure quality
and appropriateness of services.
7. Oversee all referrals for OOD programs
8. Maintain accurate files for all students in OOD placements following
district procedures.
9. Supervise the OOD clerk.
10. Monitor attendance conduct and progress of all students in OOD
programs.
11. Collaborate with juvenile court DCF and advocates.
12. Collaborate with the Chief Compliance Officer on BSEA or PRS
matters involving students in OOD programs.
13. Coordinate transportation for students in OOD programs and in rare
cases supervise students who are returned to the district at the end of the
day.
14. Oversee graduation requirements for high school students in OOD
programs.
15. Complete all required referrals to state agencies.
16. Any other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of
Special Education.
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent Special Education or designee
The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or
determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent
intends to waive a qualification such intent will be shared with the Fall River School
Committee.
Terms of Employment and Salary: In accordance with the Fall River Administrators
Association contract.
Continued employment is contingent on job performance program
needs and funding.
Salary Range $97802- $141115
