The Lead RN provides front-line leadership support as part of the unit management team at a staff level position. The Lead RN supports the Nurse Manager and unit leadership team in their responsibility for the development implementation and evaluation of care provided on the patient care department consistent with the established strategic plan goals and objectives for Patient Care Services. May assume a patient care assignment based on department needs. The Lead RN may serve in an educator role assisting with coordination of department staff development and orientation processes and/or charge role. Lead RN serves as a clinical resource to other healthcare team members in the designated department.

Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements

Education:
Associates Degree of Nursing
BSN
Experience:
Sufficient previous clinical experience in area of expertise
License(s)/Certification(s):
Possess current RN licensure in the State of Iowa or compact state
Maintains current BLS PALS TNCC ENPC and ACLS certifications.
Successful completion of MOAB Training
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Writes reads speaks and comprehends fluent English
Ability to lead and participate in multidisciplinary teams
Ability to direct others and to exercise judgment in problem-solving scenarios
Ability to lead and/or participate in multidisciplinary teams
Possess a comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice and an expanded knowledge of current clinical and specialized patient care concepts.
Possess a broad and varied knowledge base that is continually enhanced through self-directed study and participation in educational opportunities.
Other:
Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
If at any time the team member is in disciplinary action or does not maintain either an exceptional performer or role model level of performance and/or obtains a written warning for their work performance the team member would be demoted to the staff ED nurse role until the next performance review. Manager responsible to notify their HRBP of change in job class.
