Job Description

  • Based at our Melbourne Burwood Campus or Geelong Waterfront Campus hybrid work arrangements

  • Full-time and fixed-term for 12 months from September 2025

  • HEW 7 $105933 - $% Superannuation

As a Philanthropic Leadership Giving Officer you will:

  • With enthusiasm identify qualify and cultivate prospective donors to support Deakins strategic fundraising priorities.

  • Conduct discovery meetings to assess donor interest and potential referring to major gift officers when appropriate and demonstrate your understanding of philanthropy

  • Use data insights from Deakin ARMS and related systems to qualify and manage donor prospects.

  • Be highly organised and maintain accurate and timely records of donor interactions in the Deakin Advancement CRM.

  • Coordinate donor engagement efforts and collaborate with the donor experience team to ensure seamless stewardship.

In a typical day you will:

  • Analyse complex information distil key issues and communicate clear logical solutions in simple terms.

  • Explore innovative approaches by drawing on diverse perspectives and applying creative problem-solving.

  • Prioritise tasks evaluate progress and select effective solutions while supporting and empowering your team.

  • Champion and implement change overcoming resistance and clearly communicating its purpose and benefits.

  • Build strong relationships seek and respond to feedback and promote positive wellbeing across your team and stakeholders.

To be successful youll have:

  • Relevant degree with substantial experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proven success in delivering small to medium scale fundraising programs and meeting financial targets ideally but not essentially in Higher Education.

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills with experience in engaging donors and soliciting gifts.

  • Excellent organisational analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Experience working across diverse teams in complex organisations and managing a broad portfolio of relationships.
