JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Design Engineering is the design authority and owner of the design bases. Fire Protection which resides in the Central Programs Engineering Department is responsible for maintaining fire protection design control and providing technical support to the plant in the area of fire protection. Design integrity of the Fire Protection program is maintained through effective configuration control of design output documents (i.e. specifications calculations drawings test requirements and procedures). Performs NFPA 805 monitoring and advocacy for program improvement. Maintains and develops Long Range Planning for Fire Protection System improvements
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
B.S. Degree in Engineering or other closely related scientific discipline/physical science generally associated with power plant operations or equivalent work experience (equivalent experience defined as demonstrated success at the engineer/technical specialist level.)
Desired: Meets the requirements of a Professional Member for the Society of Fire Protection Engineers
Minimum experience required of the position
5 - 10years of experience in nuclear power design operations or equivalent depending upon engineering level.
Desired: 5 years experience in Fire Protection Engineering
Minimum knowledge skills and abilities required of the position
Good to excellent communication skills. Experience / proficiency in PC use and applications depending upon engineering level.
Desired: Technical knowledge of 10CFR50.48 BTP APCSB 9.5-1 Reg. Guide 1.189 and NFPA 805. Background in nuclear plant
shutdown capability analysis including non-power operations. Proficiency in computer codes ARC CLM and HASS.
Any certificates licenses etc. required for the position
Desired: Professional Engineering license.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties. Required to be on an Emergent Response Organization (ERO) rotation.
