Job Description

Position: Executive Director

Reports to: Board of Directors

Status: Full-time exempt

Starting Salary: $85000- $90000 annually

Location: 4187 SE Division Street Portland OR

Benefits: Health insurance dental insurance paid vacation sick time 9 holidays off and extended year-end closure (usually one week)

About Us:

On any given day our groups of two to three participants can be found exploring museums hiking in Portlands many parks attending dance workshops taking part in fitness classes and so much more. On-The-Move (OTM) works to enrich the social fabric of our community through fuller participation of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We believe that in order for true inclusion to occur individuals must have regular opportunities to play a role in their community and the greater community deserves frequent interactions with people who have differing abilities communication styles and experiences. Our role is to ensure the possibility of these interactions to model the celebration of diversity and to offer individuals choices that are meaningful healthy and environmentally responsible.

Position Summary:

OTM seeks an energetic innovative and professionally-minded Executive Director to lead this small but mighty organization. The leader will manage comprehensive operations secure financial resources expand partnerships and lead a passionate and skilled team. As the organizations key management leader the Executive Director develops implements and manages efforts to bring OTMs mission to life through external outreach and internal operations. With the aid of of a Program Manager this position shapes the future of OTM with visionary thinking skilled management sound fiscal oversight and a passion for social inclusion.

Responsibilities:

Mission and Strategy

  • Work with the board to develop a strategic plan that embodies OTMs mission and vision and lead efforts to execute that plan.
  • Promote collaboration around maintaining an equity lens into the organizations strategic plan policy and priority-setting process and lead implementation.
  • Maintain an advocacy-driven knowledge of significant developments and trends in the disability services field and nonprofit management to inform strategy.

Operations and Management

  • Create a culture of excellence development and accountability fostering a joyful workplace that attracts and retains top-quality staff and volunteers.
  • Oversee processes to recruit hire manage and release all personnel both paid and volunteer.
  • Establish and maintain an effective leadership team by delegating authority and responsibility providing learning opportunities and planning for succession.
  • Manage ongoing improvement and positive atmosphere of current programs and services and grow programs consistent with OTMs strategic plan and budget.
  • Evaluate results impact and cost effectiveness of OTMs programs through measurement systems and reporting in partnership with the leadership team.

Financial and Accountability Systems

  • Manage finances with a bookkeeping service ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure that sound financial and human resources policies are developed and followed in compliance with federal state and local regulations and that official records and documents are properly prepared and retained.
  • Lead and maintain accountability for the budget planning and forecasting process and ensure the organization operates within the approved budget.
  • Ensure that financial reports are timely accurate and in legal compliance.
  • Develop and monitor financial practices and controls in accordance with GAAP and donor specifications.

Board Relations

  • Manage an effective working partnership with the Board of Directors by keeping them fully informed of the organizations health and positioning and promoting active participation of all members.
  • Assist in recruiting and training new Board members.

Fundraising

  • Secure charitable gifts and grants on an annual basis (2025 goal is $117000).
  • Partner with the board to establish and develop sustainable development strategies sufficient to fund the operating budget.
  • Create and lead the execution of a fundraising plan that diversifies funding streams and best supports the mission and goals of the organization.
  • As the chief fundraiser for OTM actively lead donor cultivation and solicitation.

External Relations and Partnerships

  • Act as primary spokesperson for the organization.
  • Promote market and represent the mission vision plan and programs of OTM to all constituencies through face-to-face and social channels.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with funders nonprofits government agencies community partners program participants and their families to advance the strategic goals and mission of OTM.
  • Actively challenge policies that perpetuate systems of oppression and inequities in the disability and social service system.
  • Participate in state-level coalitions that advocate for I/DD support services (i.e. DD Coalition).

Skills and Experience:

A Successful Candidate Will Bring

  • Minimum of five years full-time experience working with underserved populations (preferably in a non-profit as an executive director asst. executive director development director or program/leadership manager).
  • Two years in the field of intellectual or developmental disabilities and one year providing supervision.
  • Bachelors degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit train supervise and motivate staff members and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of best practices and experience with non-profit fundraising and financial management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a transparent collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
  • Clear and engaging verbal and written communication skills.
  • Passion for OTMs mission.
  • Humility and a sense of humor.
  • Must pass a criminal background check maintain QED and Mandatory Abuse Reporter Status and be CPR/First Aid certified.

Compensation:

This is a salaried position located in Portland OR. The salary range for this position is: $85000- $90000 annually including fundamental benefits.
