Barnet Registration & Nationality Service is a fast-paced service supporting people through key life events. We are responsible for the registration of all births deaths and still-births in Barnet. We also offer a range of ceremonies such as marriages and civil partnerships and British citizenship ceremonies from our home Hendon Town Hall.
About the role
The role of a Registration & Nationality Officer is to support the delivery of civil registration services in Barnet. It is a varied role that includes the registration of births still-births deaths marriages and civil partnerships as well as creating memorable ceremonies. We host ceremonies of marriages and civil partnerships at the historic Hendon Town Hall as well as at licenced venues across the borough. The role also includes welcoming new Barnet citizens at citizenship ceremonies as they complete their British naturalisation journey.
When not interacting directly with customers the role is involved in supporting the administration of meeting legal and statutory requirements as well as resolving customer queries.
About you
Registration experience is desirable but not essential. We are looking for individuals that enjoy developing their skills whilst maintaining a great level of customer service to make every interaction feel personal.
The ability to build rapport quickly is essential and the successful applicant must have experience of working in a customer facing role and be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills as well as a good level of numeric and written skills.
Being able to deliver a professional service whilst being empathetic and compassionate is key; you will be required to make decisions calmy and under pressure.
The successful applicant must be able to work flexibly to meet service demand. To fulfil our statutory obligations weekend and on call working is required on a rota basis.
