Job Description
Overview
CHI Carrington Health now part of CommonSpirit Health formed by the alignment of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health have a variety of skills from clinical to project management. In our Critical Access Hospital you will be exposed to the emergency department acute care (Med/Surg) swing bed surgery outpatient treatment and so much more!
Responsibilities
As our Surgical Services Nurse at CHI St. Alexius Health Carrington Medical Center you will prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room to ensure they receive excellent nursing when they are at their most vulnerable.
Every day you will go over consent forms answer questions about the procedure do preoperative assessments make sure the equipment is ready to go and update family members on the surgery status during the operation. You will be expected to directly assist the surgeon during the actual surgery.
To be successful in this role you must have the ability to maintain focus while multitasking remain calm under pressure and exercise good judgment in emergency situations.
What youll do...
- Assist surgeon and surgical team in the OR
- Care for patients before during and after procedures
- Develop and implement nursing care plan for surgical patients
- Ensure operating rooms are prepped with all necessary equipment and supplies
- Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Associates Degree in Nursing OR Bachelor of Nursing (BSN)
- Active Registered Nursing License in North Dakota OR active compact RN license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association required.
- ACLS required within six (6) months of start date.
- PALS required within six (6) months of start date.
- TNCC required within six (6) months of start date.
