Position Summary:
Supervises and coordinates a variety of programs and activities including safety programs preventative maintenance and maintenance management. This position is responsible for day-to-day operations and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility within the Utilities Division; directs supervises and trains assigned employees.
Essential Duties:
- Supervises trains schedules and evaluates staff.
- Maintains regulatory compliance requirements; manages process control.
- Inspects plant machinery equipment grounds and facilities to determine need for repair or corrective actions.
- Schedules work staff; maintains time records; and prepares and submits payroll reports.
- Maintains records for operations and maintenance in Lucity (computer maintenance management system).
- Estimates and orders materials and supplies.
- Investigates and responds to complaints.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Administers safe and efficient operation of vehicles and equipment.
- Inspects and monitors performance of contractors when assigned.
- Participates in budget preparation and evaluation; assists in preparing bid documents.
- Enforces safety regulations; provides safety training; and maintains training records.
- Acts as Direct Responsible Charge during Superintendents absence.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; five (5) years of experience as a wastewater treatment plant operator including at least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role; or any equivalent combination of education experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licensing Certification and Other Requirements:
Possess and maintain an Arizona Class D drivers license; possess a Grade III ADEQ Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification or obtain within twelve (12) months of hire.

Physical Demands And Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a standard City office environment and in the field.
- Safely operates required equipment and a City vehicle as needed.
- Safely operates a variety of standard office equipment including a computer telephone calculator
- copier and fax machines requiring continuous and repetitive arm hand and eye movement.
- Safely exerts moderate physical effort to lift carry push and/or pull etc. of objects and materials of
- moderate weight (50 pounds or less).
- Work is performed regularly where decisions are made that could lead to major community or
- organizational consequences if there is a failure to make the appropriate decision at the time.
