Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Friends of Bonobos (FOB) seeks a full-time Partnerships Coordinator. We are a small entrepreneurial organization that is growing rapidly so this position requires both a keen ability to manage organize and track the progress of the team while still engaging in the day-to-day implementation of our development tasks and activities.

This role is responsible for implementing fundraising plans including events grants and individual giving strategies. Must have experience in nonprofit fundraising writing proposals and working with major donors.

Position can be remote however successful candidate must be able to travel to Durham NC for quarterly meetings and elsewhere regularly to meet with donors and for events.

Friends of Bonobos is a US nonprofit organization that protects bonobos and their rainforest home by working in partnership with the largest bonobo conservation project in the world Les Amis des Bonobos du Congo.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Major Donor Relationship Cultivation Stewardship and Solicitation

  1. Collaborate with ED and team to develop and implement major gift fundraising plans and strategies.
  2. Run stewardship activities:
    • Manage donor stewardship and contribution acknowledgements
      • Communicate with donors via email phone or social media.
      • Manage and when needed write and implement impact and gift reports.
    • Maintain a portfolio of major donors and major donor prospects: build and nurture personal and individual relationships
      • Understand their interests and philanthropic goals.
      • Develop tailored fundraising strategies and personalized proposals.
      • Manage donor relationships through ongoing communication reporting and recognition ensuring donors feel valued and engaged.
      • Plan events such as zoom presentations in-person small donor events etc.
      • Meet one-on-one on phone and in person
      • Develop and execute strategies to solicit major gifts including crafting compelling proposals and making face-to-face asks.
    • Work in partnership with Communications Director to coordinate overall communications strategy with what is needed for fundraising stewardship and reporting to/for major donors and institutions
    • Build a pipeline of prospective funders for Friends of Bonobos by researching identifying and cultivating new corporate foundation and individual prospects.
    • Update staff and board on current tax laws investments and planned giving opportunities
    • Work with the ED and board leadership to coordinate board engagement giving and related events.

    Support Institutional Giving

    • Research grant opportunities
    • Work with Director of Conservation Partnerships (DCP) to write and prepare grant proposals
    • Work with DCP to prepare and submit reports to funders

    Systems

    • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions
    • Run development reports - track key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on fundraising progress to the ED
    • Work with the ED to make systems and processes more efficient and effective

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

    • Bachelors Degree in marketing or a related field with 6 years experience or Masters degree in marketing or a related field with 3 years experience
    • Proficiency with regularly used software and platforms including WhatsApp; Google for Nonprofits Google Analytics GoogGoogle Tag Manager Google Search Console Canva Adobe Suite Constant Contact Wix all primary social media platforms Hootsuite Zoom.
    • Written and/or spoken French is a huge plus.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    • $65000-$80000 USD annually depending on experience
