Job Description

OVERVIEW:

Year Up United is seeking a Grants Manager to provide direct support to Year Up Uniteds site-based fundraising teams by providing complete and comprehensive grant management writing and any other support needed to ensure funders needs and requirements are met. Reporting to the Director of Grant Writing this individual will work both cross-functionally and in support of specified Year Up United sites to creatively develop proposals to secure new funding track required grant compliance and write necessary reports and create proposals that support the sites efforts on renewals.

As an ideal candidate for this role you will bring a passion for our mission and an interest in gaining experience in the fields of development and communication. To be successful in this position you will have excellent writing skills an ability to clearly articulate the specifics of Year Up Uniteds mission program and outcomes and a customer-oriented approach to working with site personnel to develop and deliver full grant management packages.

The Grants Manager will at times interact with Year Up United students as a mentor group facilitator and advocate participating in building a positive educational environment.

This is a hybrid and location flexible must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations where we serve students (

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grants and Research

  • Write grant proposals that include rational and emotionally compelling articulation of Year Up Uniteds success in youth development postsecondary education and career training
  • Access organize and synthesize information provided from subject matter experts as well as our Customer Relationship Management system at the local sites to create accurate and well-written documents
  • Ensure that all information is consistent with the organizations brand message objectives and style standards
  • Assist Associate Director of Grants Management and sites in researching identifying and pursuing new sources of funding compatible with the organizations mission and programming
  • Keep current on philanthropy news and policy reports relating to workforce development and disconnected young adults
  • Other duties as assigned

Site Support

  • Consult with fundraisers at sites to generate proposals and reports capturing the essence of each individual site while clearly articulating the specifics of Year Up Uniteds mission program and outcomes
  • Develop and deliver the full grant management package to the local sites including all required data documents proposals budgets and other supplementary items as required by the funder
  • Support Year Up United sites in developing meaningful relationships with funders by ensuring all written documents demonstrate deep understanding of the funders mission and alignment to each Year Up United site
  • Manage an internal grant proposal and reporting system to track deadlines deliverables and requirement and proactively communicate with sites on timelines

Site Team/Learning Community Member

  • Serve as a coach/mentor for a small number of current students
  • Join and sometimes facilitate weekly group sessions with students
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of writing experience (grant writing preferred) in a fast-paced entrepreneurial nonprofit environment
  • Exceptional writing skills; experience writing and managing grants as well as understanding of budgets required
  • Salesforce experience preferred though not required
  • Ability to speak and write in a compelling way about the organizations funding and programmatic goals
  • Professional and resourceful with the ability to work independently and as a team player to take initiative and manage multiple deadline-driven tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Proven passion for working with youth an unshakable belief in their potential and a strong commitment ot the mission of Year Up United
  • Understanding the Opportunity Divide and its drivers

Salary Range: $62500 - $80000

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Year Up United has established salary ranges for each of our sites which allows us to pay employees competitively equitably and consistently in different geographic markets. For roles in which the location is listed as flexible the range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Salary offers take into account a candidates skills experience and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.

  • Vacation: Earn three weeks paid vacation in first year of employment; four weeks after initial year.
