The Head of Value & Access at AbbVie plays a crucial role in developing and implementing market access strategies to enhance patient access in Australia. This role involves leading a team to maximise the commercial potential of AbbVies portfolio through funding submissions local data development and pricing negotiations. The position collaborates closely with Strategic Pricing leads to align market access strategies with global reimbursement guidance while considering local market factors.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead team of Value & Access mangers to develop and implement market access strategies to maximise the commercial potential of the existing portfolio and new products through funding submissions development of local data price and risk share negotiations and access defense strategies.
- Collaborate with Strategic Pricing leads to develop market access strategies for pipeline planning new product launches pricing defense and asset cross-indication access optimisation in alignment with global reimbursement guidance and in consideration of local market factors
- In collaboration with strategic pricing leads support Alternative Access Program (AAP) design by generating data such as willingness to pay evidence (in-market data analytics and/or market research)
- As a member of the Value & Access leadership team build and implement work plan to understand future payers and associated pricing reimbursement and access capability needs.
- Oversee team to maintain vigilance on movements of competitor reimbursement activity to ensure AbbVie is competitively positioned while ensuring internally and externally compliant pricing practices
- Monitor health care and payer policy environment for reimbursement implications work with Australian industry groups and liaise with Global on key projects related to pricing. Develop AbbVies positions regarding reimbursement and access policy.
- Provide input into reimbursement and pricing assumptions for financial planning cycles.
- Establish and nurture positive working relationships with our internal functions and AbbVie Global and Area offices.
- Represent AbbVie externally with Department of Health Medicines Australia and external experts relevant to portfolio as required.
- Report any adverse event within 24 hours as per Allergans policies and procedures.
- Proactively participate in AbbVies WHS programs adhere to policies and promote a safe work environment at all times.
- Adhere to AbbVies internal codes of conduct and compliance processes.
- Other ad hoc duties such as administrative duties as requested.
Qualifications :
- Tertiary qualifications in Biomedical Science Public Health Health Economics or Business Administration.
- The ideal candidate should have extensive of experience in a similar position with market access and pricing expertise in the Australian & New Zealand pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in MA strategy development PBAC/MSAC submission development preferred
- Previous experience leading high performing teams including recruiting candidates and hiring performance management and career development
- Additional commercial/business background knowledge of health economic principles and direct experience negotiating with payers strongly preferred
- Strong strategic & analytical thinking: ability to understand synthetize and communicate complex concepts and outcomes and distil into clear executive-level story-telling; coaches team to do the same
- Sees the big picture by bringing together different ideas information and data points
- Elevates organizational capabilities through coaching sharing best practices and raising the bar
- Coach team to go beyond the numbers to drive insight-driven recommendations
- Proven ability to work within a cross-functional team and within a large organization
- Ability to adapt to evolving customer needs/demands within a changing environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and capacity to manage conflict constructively
- Expertise in analytics/business insights financial modelling and building strong business cases.
