AHF Products has a job opportunity for a Cold Press Utility to be located in Somerset KY. Reporting to the Production Superintendent this position is responsible for laying up lamellas on the plywood cores that will produce quality flooring blanks. Help the Cold Press Operator with cleaning and performing PMs on equipment. Proper housekeeping of the work area. Proper handling of inventory tickets.

JOB DUTIES:

• Always follow all safety guidelines in order to eliminate accidental injury.
• Maintain property plant and equipment to support and improve the safe production and performance of operations.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement and provide suggestions to improve processes and participate in team projects.
• Check squareness of spreader at the start of each shift.
• Must rotate positions with other spreader employees every two hours.
• Always put a blank down on the roller lift table to start a new pallet.
• Keep watch on glue spread.
• Lay-up veneer squarely against the backstop and side post. Dont overlap random length veneer butt the ends together.
• Push off full pallets onto the roller transfer conveyor.
• Include all tickets off veneer on laid up stacks.
• Verify that tickets/material are correct and on each pallet before use.
• Clean spreaders when downtime permits.
• Fill racks with face veneer between stacks.
• Help clean and do PMs on maintenance day.
• Always use Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures when cleaning or doing PMs.
• Throw away core that does not have good glue spread.
• Any trash veneer must be placed in the proper dumpster. Do NOT mix trash and veneer.
• Always slow down glue rolls at all breaks and lunch.
• Visually inspect the surface of flooring for defects such as holes cracks checks bark pockets worm holes splits and indentions.
• Mix putty before using. Do NOT add water.
• Use story boards and standard work daily.
• Use different colors of putty when required.
• Be able to putty strips in a timely manner and apply proper amount of putty so pitting does not occur.
• Assist the Operator/Lay-up crew if task is complete.
• Perform any other tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• No Diploma or GED is required.
• The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• The ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
• The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Able to follow established policies and procedures.
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
• Able to demonstrate practical problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently as well as in a team environment on assigned projects/tasks and report to supervision the status of each as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Frequently push pull carry and lift up to 50lbs.
• Continuous walking standing stretching bending stooping twisting reaching grasping and repetitive movements
• Frequently talk hear read write and comprehend the English language
