The Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) is responsible for the strategic direction leadership and oversight of all clinical operations. This role ensures that patient care services are delivered efficiently effectively and in accordance with the highest clinical and ethical standards. The CCO collaborates across departments fostering alignment between clinical goals and organizational strategy.
The CCO will over see the clinical departments within the facility including Long Term Care Clinics Hospital Lab Radiology Infection Control and Quality/Risk Management. Directly supervising these department heads in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
Key Responsibilities
-Oversee daily operations of all reporting departments ensuring direct reports have all resources needed to provide adequate care while maintaining compliance and operating efficiently.
-Recommend establishment or revision of policies procedures and methods and develops organizational structure and standards of performance and assists department heads with policy and procedure review development and implementation.
-Ensure departments are up-to-date and compliant with all federal state and internal regulatory standards and requirements. Researches regulations across all governing bodies routinely to help ensure department heads are aware of changes in regulatory requirements.
-Advises and assists Administration Medical Director Senior Leadership and medical staff in strategic planning and developing administrative and operational policies and procedures site planning and use strategic planning service line management quality metrics etc.
-Coordinates with reporting departments and Administration to prepare and implement financial budgets procurement policies capital purchases vendor management service agreement reviews group purchasing reviews etc. across all clinical departments.
-Directs annual skills checkoffs across all clinical areas and ensures all staff have required education and competency standards and conducts periodic educational activities as needed for higher skill development across clinical departments.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelors degree (BSN) in Nursing from four-year College or university AND minimum of two years in nurse leadership role; OR minimum of 5 years of related nurse leadership experience at a Director level or higher.
Masters degree (MSN) preferred.
