Job Description

Performs a variety of activities in support of automated instrumentation. Performs tasks in accordance with company SOPs and policies while also following standard methodologies independently. Develops and supports initiatives to increase efficiency and productivity of the laboratory.

Essential Functions and Other Job Information:

  • Develops and validates scripts/methods. Understands and conforms to methods and protocols applicable to assigned tasks.

  • Develops liquid classes for liquid handling workstations and trains others to perform liquid class testing.

  • maintenance and sophisticated remedial maintenance (e.g. complex hardware replacements)

  • Implements new scripts/methods through developmental testing without supervision.

  • Supports new hires and trainees in completing scripts/methods.

  • Participates in validation projects and with minimal direction conducts validation experiments. May serve as a Principal Investigator

  • Demonstrates strong documentation skills and follows relevant SOPs and standard processes for laboratory automation. Trains others on documentation and SOPs/laboratory automation approaches.

  • Performs programming and/or process mapping for fully automated workflows


Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification or previous experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Direct experience with automation instrumentation required; vendor service certification preferred

  • Experience with programming (Hamilton Venus TECAN EVOware or Fluent Control Thermo Momentum VB Python etc.) required; vendor programming certification (or equivalent) preferred

  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot a wide variety of analytical instrumentation and data acquisition systems

  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities

  • Proven record to work in a collaborative work environment with a team

  • Confirmed understanding of GxP requirements SOPs ICH guidelines USP requirements and FDA

  • Confirmed troubleshooting and critical thinking skills

  • Proficient in sophisticated automated platform software use and programming

  • Knowledge of data generation and statistical programs

  • Knowledge of general chemistry separation science immunochemistry molecular genomics biomarker and/or vaccine science related concepts and/or technologies (as applicable) systems

  • Technical writing skills

  • Effective communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Work is performed in a laboratory and/or a clinical environment with daily exposure to electrical office equipment and hazardous waste.

  • Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms.

  • Personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear garments and gloves may be required at times.

  • Exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures on rare occasions.

  • Occasionally works towards site or client locations occasionally travels within the United States
