Job Description

The occupational therapist will conduct evaluations and provide direct services to students with mild/moderate disabilities including but not limited students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a public school setting.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducts thorough assessments of fine motor visual motor and sensory processing skills utilizing standardized evaluations and informal assessments to establish eligibility for services and inform goals and service delivery
  • Utilizes data to develop attainable strengths-based SMART goals for improving functional classroom and daily living skills
  • Provides direct services utilizing research-based treatment methods to improve students fine motor visual motor and daily living skills as outlined in the students Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • Records data and reports progress at least as often as report cards are provided
  • Attends and participates in IEP meetings
  • Collaborates with other related service providers to conduct co-treatment sessions when deemed appropriate
  • Consults with classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to implement fine motor daily living and sensory strategies throughout the school day
  • Participates in professional development that is specific to the field and meets requirements to maintain licensure
  • Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with behavior management/de-escalation strategies
  • Minimum Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited graduate program
  • Valid Occupational Therapist License through the Board of Allied Health Professions Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred
  • Reports to:

  • Building principal and special education team administrator
  • Director of Special Education & Special Education Coordinator
