The Need

For 25 years IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence by 2030 we are seeking a Global Manager Procurement to provide the overall oversight strategy and direction of IJMs procurement operations globally. This role is key to promoting the enterprise alignment of vendor strategy and reporting.

This position is hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) if located in the Washington DC area or remote for non-local candidates. It reports to the Vice President Controller and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management

  • Direct a team of headquarters and field-based purchasing and procurement assistants and leads maximizing inter-team collaboration and communication individual professional development and accomplishment of department and team objectives.

  • Develop the professional spiritual and social capabilities of staff on team to enhance their capacity for personal growth and effective performance resulting in skillful and dedicated employees working towards achieving the mission of IJM.

Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation

  • Develop annual and long-term strategy for the Global Procurement team to align with Global Finance goals towards achieving the global mission and objectives.

  • Develop a preferred vendor management policy that can be maintained practically and across the IJM organization leveraging Workday Procurement Functionalities.

Networking & Partnership

  • Maintain a close relationship with regional leadership program and financial management staff for the purpose of collaboration and alignment.

Policies & Procedures

  • Develop and update global accounting and finance policy and procedure to guide the procurement operations of overseas offices to ensure internal controls consistent application and compliance with internal policies and other local donor and regulatory requirements for purposes of mitigating financial and reputational risks.

  • Collaborate with field office leadership and finance teams to create and/or update their local supplement/Best Practice manuals to guide local operations for maximum compliance with local laws.

Training & Development

  • Improve existing and/or create new field office training materials and accounting guidance as resources for site visit support by procurement teams as well as for onboarding new finance staff in overseas locations.

  • Perform on-site field office financial support and training (as needed) to field office finance and general staff on accounting policies procedures and internal controls for effective performance.

  • Provide training and support to headquarters staff on new procurement policies and procedures.

Documentation Reporting & Data Management

  • Oversee the document management of field offices Procurement operations best practice and vendor contracts records and tax details for audit and history.

General Accounting & Statutory Compliance

  • Support Procurement implementation through vendor review acceptance and reporting to give clear visibility on spending for effective management and compliance to prevent financial and reputation risks to IJM.

  • Ensure procurement for governmental grants and contracts are in line with the guidelines and contracted agreements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in a business-related field like Business Management Contract Management or Procurement;

  • Solid knowledge of supplier or third-party management software;

  • At least 3 years experience as line level manager with a minimum of 2 years in purchasing division or any other related position;

  • Financial and numerical skills;

  • Exceptional talent in developing sourcing strategies negotiating and networking;

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to foster strong supplier relationships;

  • High-level of attention to detail;

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven experience successfully building and supervising a team of professionals;

  • Influential and diplomatic in building consensus to achieve cross-organizational objectives;

  • Articulate communicator able to make finance and accounting concepts and processes clear to fellow accounting professionals and non-accountants alike;

  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with people from diverse cultures and disciplines;

  • Capacity to fairly and objectively understand the effectiveness and outcomes of policies and activities and implementing appropriate adjustments;

  • Ability to remain winsome professional loving and engaged in professional disagreement or conflict;

  • Ability to maintain the posture of a servant ensuring that our customers succeed;

  • Ability to travel internationally particularly to low-resource settings.

*What is a statement of faith
A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how you see it as relevant to your involvement with IJM. The statement can either be incorporated into the cover letter or submitted as a separate document and should include at a minimum a description of your spiritual disciplines (prayer study etc.) and your current fellowship or place of worship.
