Job Description Summary:
The Simulation Director will lead the SON simulation learning enterprise for undergraduate and graduate programs. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs at the School of Nursing
Job Description:
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Teaching in nursing programs according to educational preparation.
- Participation in course and curriculum development.
- Service commitment to School and Medical Center.
- Provide value-enhanced care to patients in a variety of settings.
- Advance care delivery performance improvement and evidence-based practice.
- Participate in research activities including dissemination of research findings.
- Provide supervision to students.
- Assist in grant administration and program development.
- Develops and implements special projects as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Simulation Education Program Director Duties:
- Collaborate with the SON administrative team program directors faculty staff students and other key stakeholders to develop and implement a simulation curriculum and education experiences for undergraduate and graduate programs in the School of Nursing.
- Lead development implementation and evaluation of mission-centered innovative cost-effective and intra- and interprofessional simulation education activities from clinical skills acquisition to augmented reality/virtual reality simulations guided by best practice standards
- Collaborate with others to bring innovative experiential learning activities e.g. AR/VR experiences to SON programs
- Evaluate simulation learning experiences and the overall simulation enterprise.
- In collaboration with others explore funding opportunities related to innovative learning modalities
- Serves as SON liaison with other KUMC educational resources related to experiential learning e.g. SOM SHP ZIEL CIPER
- Assume responsibilities as assigned by Associate Dean Undergraduate Programs.
- Supervises Simulation Program Coordinator. Works with coordinator to ensure scheduling equipment maintenance and purchasing and vendor relation activities meet simulation program needs.
Faculty and GTA Development:
- Provide simulation education orientation for new faculty or faculty who move into new roles
- In collaboration with Program Directors and Associate Dean Undergraduate Programs identify potential faculty roles and development goals related to simulation education activities
- Collaborate with Program Directors faculty and staff in developing expertise and supporting individual course and program simulation-related learning activities and goals
- Collaborate with faculty Program Directors and Associate Dean Undergraduate Programs to project needs and expertise for Graduate Teaching Assistants to assist with simulation-related activities

Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduate degree in nursing.
Certification
- Current or eligible for RN licensure in Kansas.
Work Experience
- 2 years of experience leading clinical simulation learning experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Education
- Doctorate in nursing or related field
Certification
Work Experience
- 2 years teaching experience in undergraduate and/or graduate level nursing education programs.
- 5 years leadership experience in simulation education.
- Experience implementing and evaluating innovative evidence-based and technologically rich teaching strategies.
Skills
