Job Description

SUMMARY: The Presbyterian School of Nursing (PSON) Clinical Education Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of undergraduate clinical education experiences and serves as required by our clinical affiliation agreements as the liaison between the university and clinical agencies.

The Clinical Education Coordinator reports to the BSN Program Chair. This position is not exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with BSN Program Chair and faculty to schedule clinical learning opportunities based on current standards of practice.
  • Serve as clinical liaison between the School of Nursing and Undergraduate Clinical Facilities.
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with Facility Coordinators.
  • Ensure that School of Nursing students and faculty are aware of current facility practices and policies.
  • Develop and maintain internal processes as they relate to the clinical facilities requirements.
  • Ensure that all students and faculty complete annual facility compliance packages.
  • Collaborate with the BCH Compliance & Communication Coordinator to create processes to meet facility local state federal and all other governing bodies regulations related to clinical practice.
  • Process accurate and timely requests for electronic documentation access to all clinical facilities.
  • Attend clinical agency meetings to acquire facility updates for the School of Nursing.
  • Request site placement for undergraduate NUR clinical courses.
  • Collaborate with the BSN Program Chair each semester to determine an accurate count of students and clinical groups in each cohort; collaborate with the BSN Program Chair and faculty to assign faculty and students to clinical sections.
  • Collaborate with BSN Program Chair to facilitate adjunct clinical faculty orientation.
  • Retain accurate and thorough student clinical assignments as required by clinical agencies.
  • Obtain student and faculty identification badges from clinical facility.
  • Maintain a document repository of clinical placement communication in a shared file.

Non-EssentialDuties:

  • Other duties and special projects may be assigned to meet department and/or university needs.

Experience Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Well-developed ability to communicate information in an effective manner suitable for the intended audience (faculty students); emphasis on written and verbal communication skills including professional email and telephone skills
  • Strong PC knowledge and skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook Excel Word etc.
  • Ability to use discretion when dealing with sensitive confidential information.
  • Superior detail-orientation to ensure accurate complete and timely recordkeeping.
  • Excellent follow-up and follow-through skills ensuring on time and accurate completion of short- and longer-term assignments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively towards team objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze components and arrive at a logical course of action while knowing when to ask for assistance or direction.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new knowledge and skills
  • Proven exceptional attention to detail and ability to consistently produce error free results
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness through words and actions and possess the ability to develop and maintain rapport with a diverse population.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Bachelors degree preferred.
