SUMMARY
The EMS Clinical Coordinator is a Montana License Paramedic responsible for the planning and coordinating and facilitating education interventions and in the instruction of learning within the Paramedical clinical sites for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Associate Degree Paramedic students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Supervises observes and instructs students during clinical and classroom instruction. Correlates clinical training with didactic training. Conveys knowledge of the subject area in an effective manner for successful student learning outcomes
  • Coordinates clinical schedules with clinical rotation sites to include: scheduling site visits site evaluations. Provides clinical schedules at least one month in advance for expected clinical rotations.
  • Provides formal didactic instruction as required (i.e. film critique and positioning labs for first year students).
  • Makes systematic observations and objective judgments about student performance maintains and submits instructional records in accordance with requirements and participates in assessment activities
  • Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies
  • Monitors clinical documentation and competencies to ensure compliance with minimum program standards. Maintains quality assurance (QA) records for each student through image evaluation QA tracking and repeat rate monitoring.
  • Prepares and discusses clinical evaluations documenting the progress of each student and provides guidance for future performance. Performs and reviews all semester clinical evaluations and monitors student progress. Assists Program Director in assigning clinical grades on a semester basis.
  • Contributes to program representation through recruitment fairs Career Day seminars tour groups program promotion and continuing education. Organizes all aspects of job-shadow requests including: clearance scheduling and actual observation.
  • Meets with each student individually as required by the program and provides each student timely feedback about his/her performance including suggestions for improvement.
  • Works professionally with the College program director faculty lab coordinator and staff to aid with the clinical process educational process and fulfill all academic responsibilities
  • Promotes patient and student safety.
  • Provides feedback to the program about current department/hospital policies or changes in practice in the field and makes suggestions for program modifications or improvement.
  • Assesses future students in both the hospital clinical and field experience portions of the program.
  • Develops and maintains professional networks and relationships with health providers centers and hospitals
  • Exhibits professional behavior and serves as a role model for students
  • Remains current in practices trends and research related to areas of assignment
  • Attends related trainings workshops and professional development
  • Cross trains to perform other departmental and team functions; backfills for staff as needed
  • Actively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and efforts to continuously improve services to students faculty and the College
  • Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships
  • Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies
  • Advances the mission of FVCC by serving on or convening committees and contributing in the community in college-related activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Reports to the Program Director EMS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current National Registry Paramedic certification and Montana Paramedic licensure AND
  • Current Montana endorsement for lead instructor or ability to obtain within six months AND
  • American Heart Association BLS ACLS and PALS instructor or ability to obtain within six months of hire AND
  • NAEMT PHTLS and AMLS instructor or ability to obtain within six months of hire AND
  • Valid Montana drivers license with insurable driving record upon hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate of Applied Science degree in EMS or related field
  • Critical Care Paramedic Certification
  • Experience with paramedic program accreditation requirements under CAAHEP/CoAEMSP
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated ability to plan organize implement and evaluate instructional materials in assigned Paramedic clinical areas
  • Knowledge and understanding of multiple computer software applications especially as related to simulation manikins
  • Knowledge of the safe use and disposal of hazardous equipment and chemicals
  • Verbal and written communication skills to deal with diverse student population and varying levels of FVCC students
  • Must be able to set-up teaching materials for multiple skills for both EMT and Paramedic clinical classes
  • Need to have basic knowledge of EMS equipment/supplies
  • Ability to travel to multiple work sites
  • Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC
  • Ability and willingness to serve as an ambassador for the College by interacting appropriately with the college community and community
  • Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships
  • Ability to follow and issue directions
  • Demonstrated communication technology presentation customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to intermittently work non-traditional schedules including evenings weekends etc.
  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to pass a drivers license records check and maintain current Montana Drivers License and a clean driving record
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to respond in the event of an emergency
  • This is a Medium Duty job according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
