The Academic Dean will oversee all aspects of The ASK Academys course enrollment advisement and graduation for scholars in grades 9 through 12. The Academic Dean will work with new incoming high school scholars to assess their graduation probability according to ASKs graduation requirements and guide their course selections. The Academic Dean will guide and monitor all high school scholars in development of their Next Step Plans graduation portfolios and testing requirements. The Dean will assist seniors in transitioning out of high school and into their next educational/work setting.
The Academic Dean reports to the High School Principal and will work with a team of administrators across the middle and high school. This is a salaried position on an administrative contract.
Key Job Responsibilities
Administrative oversight of the enrollment process
Course registration of new high school scholars with a particular emphasis on the evaluation of transcripts of high school transfer scholars
Assist all scholars (grades 9-12) with registration course selection and ensuring all scholars have the proper courses for graduation and college entrance
Oversee dual enrollment partnerships with UNM CNM and NMSU
Coordinate and manage SAT and 504 Plans
Manage the credit recovery process
Manage the college recruiting process by scheduling enrollment/advisement meetings with college recruiters
Arrange FAFSA information nights for seniors
Write requested letters of recommendation for students pursuing higher education or employment
Inform scholars regarding scholarship internship volunteer and employment opportunities
Meet with teachers families and scholars regarding academic performance as needed
Manage the development of the course catalog curriculum guides and school profile
Work with the Instructional Coach/Testing Coordinator on school-based testing and assessments such as NWEA PSAT SAT ASR and AP examinations
Work with the Director of Special Education on securing College Board and ACT testing accommodations for scholars on SAT and 504 Plans
Coordinate and plan graduation
Coordinate with the Principal on data analysis regarding academic performance and program evaluation
Coordinate with the Principal on the development of master schedule
Minimum Requirements
Progressive experience in education and school administration
Demonstrated ability to work with a team and effectively manage others
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with adolescents
Preferred Characteristics
Administrative License (III-B) preferred but not required
Masters degree (III-A)
Understanding of The ASK Academys commitment to maintain the schools mission and values
Experience with PowerSchools administrative applications and/or willingness to learn
Takes initiative to identify needs and take action to address these needs
Empathetic and sympathetic to individual scholar needs
