Job Description

  • Senior Academic Leadership appointment

  • Full-time appointment on a five-year fixed term basis

  • 1.0 FTE commencing on 1 January 2026

The University is seeking a seasoned academic leader to become the new Pro Vice-Chancellor (Health and Medical Research). The successful candidate will be an accomplished academic and researcher with an exceptional record in health and medical research and will possess significant leadership and management experience capable of driving performance in a large complex organisation.

Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research)and encompassing a significant range of responsibilities you will lead a UWA health and medical strategy developed in 2025 with opportunities to refine and influence this further. You will progress a whole of institution strategy to increase health and medical research funding including in national state and philanthropic competitive grant schemes.

You will demonstrate an understanding of the nuances of organisational culture and uplift will implement strategic initiatives with measurable plans and indicators and deliver on targets. A thorough knowledge of major issues in the health and medical research sector as relevant to higher education and Medical Research Institutes is essential.

You will drive collaborations with senior leaders in the DVCR Portfolio and across the University and engage in joint initiatives with the Office of Research. As a member of the Research Executive you will represent the University or DVCR within governance structures of Joint Ventures and on other relevant committees and Boards.
