SBM is seeking an experienced and driven Electrical Design Lead to join our dynamic team in our London office. This is a standout opportunity for someone who combines deep technical knowledge of electrical building systems with a passion for leadership mentorship and design excellence.
In this role youll take the lead on electrical design for a diverse portfolio of building projects across the residential commercial institutional and industrial sectors. Youll collaborate closely with our talented electrical engineering and design team to deliver high-quality permit and construction drawing packages ensuring every detail meets the highest standards and complies with all relevant codes.
Were looking for someone who thrives in both independent and collaborative settings. Youll guide junior staff share your expertise and help foster a culture of continuous learning and technical growth. As a key player in project delivery youll also contribute to the evolution of our design processesbringing forward ideas refining workflows and driving innovation within the team.

Occasional site visits will offer opportunities to see your work in action provide valuable feedback and deepen your connection to the design process. Key Responsibilities:
This is a full-time position. At SBM we prioritize a positive work culture believing that strong relationships with our employees lead to exceptional customer service and outstanding results for our clients.
Enjoy a balanced 40-hour workweek of 8am-5pm Monday-Thursday and an early finish at 2:30pm on Fridays. Join us in an environment where collaboration support and personal growth are at the heart of everything we do.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the electrical design process for a variety of building projects (e.g. residential commercial institutional).
- Prepare and review electrical drawings specifications load calculations and system layouts.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines (mechanical structural civil) and external stakeholders (architects clients authorities).
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g. OESC OBC CSA).
- Manage project timelines deliverables and quality assurance for electrical components.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate electrical designers.
- Participate in site reviews inspections and construction administration activities.
- Other tasks as assigned by Electrical Team Lead(s) Engineers or Division Manager
- Bachelors degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- . or C.E.T. designation (or eligible).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in building systems design.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Revit and electrical design software (e.g. AGi32).
- Strong understanding of power distribution lighting life safety and communication systems.
- Proven leadership communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in project management is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail accuracy and organization.
- Commitment to ongoing professional and personal growth; willingness to learn.
- Ability to work both independently with little supervision and in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Adaptable and flexible to changing priorities.
- Capable of working on and/or managing several projects at the same time.
