2025-2026 Interim CF CAPS Business Development Specialist
Job Description
The Cedar Falls CAPS(Center for Advanced Professional Studies) Interim Business Development Specialist works with the CAPS Director to provide leadership and management to ensure that the CF CAPS program meets or exceeds the CAPS vision for the purpose of increasing program quality and expansion of student opportunities and participation.
Reports to: Director of Center for Advanced Professional Studies
Supports: CF CAPS Advisory Board CAPS Business Partners CAPS Staff and CAPS Student-Associates and Alumni
Business and Industry Partnership Development
- Partners with CF CAPS Director to recruit develop retain and monitor business and industry partners for the purpose of developing a support pipeline for projects CAPS frameworks guest speakers guest instructors mentorships internships gifting of assets (equipment satellite space financial contributions).
- Manages a comprehensive database for the purpose of documenting activities meeting compliance requirements and improving efficiencies.
- Develops delivers and evaluates training programs for mentors project and host site sponsors guest speakers and guest instructors for the purpose of conveying information required to accomplish assigned functions.
- Partners with all CAPS instructors on the expansion needs for projects mentors and speakers based on specific needs for student growth for the purpose of building resources and expanding program capabilities.
- Develops and implements a recognition program for the purpose of formally recognizing business partners and community involvement for their support of the CAPS program.
- Serves as a point person for students seeking specific opportunities including but not limited to projects mentors job shadowing and post-secondary opportunities for the purpose of enhancing the student experience at CAPS.
- Serves as an internal point person and leads the student teams for the annual Innovation Celebration for the purpose of fundraising and community engagement.
CAPS New Business Development
- Develops new and continuing CF CAPS Business Partner and Mentor relationships for the purpose of enhancing the CAPS student experience.
- Recruit and maintain business partnerships for CF CAPS and affiliate programs including developing and introducing opportunities for projects career shadows & tours host locations equipment and supplies speakers guest instructors internship opportunities professional development and framework influence for CAPS.
CAPS Communications and Branding
- Capitalize on promotional opportunities for the purposes of raising the profile of the CF CAPS program and the District in general.
- Oversight and content development for CF CAPS and CV CAPS websites and social media accounts and print materials.
- Occasionally coordinates visits and tours by outside groups (school districts businesses individuals) to the CAPS program.
- Partners with the CAPS Director to perform internal and external marketing and communications strategies including designing graphics for the purpose of engaging parents students alumni business partners and other constituents.
- Prepare articles on experiences such as projects mentoring and speakers for CAPS in various School District and community publications for the purpose of strong media relations and keeping the staff parents students and community informed.
Program Development and Management
- Partners with the CAPS Director to research the newest trends of industry and emerging markets resulting in the development of new and existing CAPS experiences (courses) for the purpose of enhancing program quality and relevance.
- Assists in the design and development of new frameworks that support the CAPS mission and vision for the purpose of enhancing program quality and relevance.
- Monitors changes and/or additions in the CAPS frameworks for the purpose of qualifying mentors and speakers to bring value added opportunities to the students and to complement instructors.
- Shares best practices with all CAPS instructors in reference to effective mentoring and project opportunities for the purpose of conveying information to achieve program objectives.
- Develops and manages a quality control program for the purpose of evaluation and feedback on and from mentors clients guest speakers and guest instructors
- Work with the CF/CV CAPS Director to develop & implement a private funding stream through business partner relationships as needed.
University Affiliations and Alumni Relations
- Assists with the creation of high school to college to career pipelines with area post-secondary institutions for the purpose of increasing CAPS relevance.
- Maintains communication with CAPS Alumni for the purpose of developing longitudinal data enhancing university and corporate affiliations expansion of the mentoring/client database and ongoing gifting possibilities.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Tentative scope of work
- 1 Year: 2025-2026
- Contracted
- Allocated up to 20 hrs per week for 47 weeks
- Hybrid Position: flexibility as far as when and where hours are fulfilled
- Potential for additional contract hours based on support demand for future CAPS programs in the Cedar Valley
