Position Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Student Life for Equity and Access and working collaboratively with Student Life and campus partners the Coordinator plans and administers program objectives and strategies for the Social Justice and Equity Center ( SJEC ). The Coordinator of the SJEC operating with equity and racial justice lenses initiates and engages in efforts to promote equity and diversity at the University. The Coordinator researches retention issues and develops programs and initiatives to ensure the success of our students of color historically underrepresented minoritized and under-resourced student populations (inclusive of all forms and intersections of identity such as race ethnicity gender identity and expression national origin religious beliefs sexual orientation ability age size socio-economic status Veteran status etc.). Responsibilities: Provides oversight and coordination of the day-to-day operation of the Social Justice and Equity Center. Coordinates the delivery of information and assistance to students seeking support. Oversees the work of student staff members and volunteers. Hires and trains student staff to support programs mentorship tutoring and other activities that promote learning and student development. Participates in performance evaluations and corrective action for staff. Processes personnel paperwork for assigned employees. Works with student leaders to design and implement programs special events and services that support student success and development. Advises student leaders on program planning methods and processes. Assists students with problem solving a variety of complex issues during all phases of an event. Teaches students organizing skills and mentors them throughout the year. Develops and delivers leadership development workshops and seminars for program participants and currently enrolled students. Provides leadership and coordination of educational programs/campus signature events and services in assigned areas of responsibility. Serves as a liaison in providing information on available resources and services. Participates in a variety of meetings committees or other related groups to communicate information regarding services programs areas of opportunity and other pertinent information related to equity. Collaborates with campus Equity Diversity and Inclusion Committee in planning and implementing policies practices and projects regarding hiring campus climate research and assessment and campus-wide events. Prepares reviews and analyzes complex information and data and develops recommendations based on findings to further education equity and access. Attends professional conferences and training sessions to remain current on equity-related practices. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Related Other Duties: Actively participates in committees and working groups related to equity access and student engagement. Supports the development and implementation of equity and diversity education and training on campus. Contributes to projects and initiatives related to diversity anti-racism equity student engagement and accessibility. Collaborates with the Title IX team as requested. Provides resource advocacy for survivors of sexual violence hate and/or bias-related incidents. Builds and maintains excellent working relations with institutional and community partners. May serve on equity review boards or other conduct-related incident review boards.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree in student development higher education multicultural studies social justice social work or related field. Experience working with faculty. Demonstrated experience impacting social and racial justice initiatives. Experience supervising a diverse student staff.
