About the Role
The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) is seeking a skilled DevOps Administrator to join our growing IT team. This role plays a key part in bridging our on-premise systems with cloud platforms like Azure and AWS ensuring seamless integration robust security and operational efficiency. The DevOps Administrator will lead the development maintenance and support of infrastructure solutions that drive productivity and innovation across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Systems Administration: Maintain and monitor servers and computer systems to ensure high availability security and performance.
  • Directory Services: Administer Active Directory DNS DHCP WSUS KMS Group Policy and Certificate Services.
  • Cloud Platforms: Manage and support Microsoft Azure AWS Microsoft 365 and Intune environments.
  • Email Systems: Serve as the primary administrator for email systems including secure email gateways.
  • Network Services: Support key network protocols such as TCP/IP DNS DHCP SMTP and LDAP.
  • Automation: Improve efficiency through scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell and Python.
  • Virtualization: Deploy and manage virtual environments using VMware Nutanix Horizon or Hyper-V.
  • Security: Implement and maintain IT security measures including firewalls antivirus and intrusion detection systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Quickly identify and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaboration: Partner with IT staff and end-users to ensure technology meets organizational needs.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of systems configurations and procedures.

Work Location
We are looking for staff to work onsite in Danville VA.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred certifications: MCSA MCSE VCP Data Center Microsoft Azure Administrator RHCSA.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on systems administration experience in Windows or Linux environments.
  • Experience with compliance frameworks such as CMMC ITAR GDPR HIPAA or PCI-DSS is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in PowerShell and Python for automation and scripting.
  • Excellent communication collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Sits for long periods of time
  • Must be able to move freely between facilities
  • Light physical work may be required
  • Must be able to operate and manipulate a keyboard
  • May lift up to up to 10 pounds on an occasional basis
