The Arizona State Hospital (ASH) is located at 24th Street and Van Buren in Phoenix Arizona. The Hospital operates twenty-four (24) hours per day three hundred sixty-five (365) days per year. ASH operates two separately licensed hospitals on the campus which provide long-term inpatient psychiatric care to Arizonans who have been court-ordered to receive psychiatric treatment through either the civil or criminal process. We focus on providing care to those who need longer treatment to achieve goals which could not be met with local treatment.

Our Civil Hospital provides care to those individuals who have been determined by the courts to require treatment pursuant to our civil commitment statutes. Often these individuals have received extensive local treatment before coming here. Our Forensic Hospital serves as the secure facility for those who have been determined by the court to either receive restoration to competency treatment or who have been found to be guilty expect insane for a violent offense.

Co-located on our 93-acre campus is the Arizona Community Protection and Treatment Center (ACPTC). ACPTC is the only state facility (and one of only 20 nationwide) that actively treats individuals who have been court-ordered to receive treatment for their sexual offenses. This program is licensed as a Behavioral Health Specialized Transitional Facility and is managed by the same Executive Team that manages the hospitals.

The Hospitals mission which guides all that we do is to Provide evidence-based recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care to the individuals receiving care in order to facilitate their successful transition to the least restrictive alternative possible. We provide state-of-the-art inpatient and residential psychiatric care in an environment of dignity and respect. Interdisciplinary care in all programs is delivered in collaboration with the patient family legal representatives and community providers with a focus on recovery and community reintegration.
