Deputy Prosecuting Attorney
Juvenile Division

TheJuvenile Division of the King County Prosecuting Attorneys Office is seeking an enthusiastic experienced attorney with a commitment to justice integrity compassion leadership and professionalism to join our team.

Our Juvenile Division is a national model in innovative effective responses to youthful offending that seeks to hold respondents accountable for their behavior while affording them the chance to turn their lives around and be positive contributors to our community. In addition to prosecuting criminal cases through the traditional court system our Juvenile Division has implemented groundbreaking Restorative Justice Initiatives such as the CHOOSE 180 Program Family Intervention and Restorative Services (FIRS) Restorative Community Pathways (RCP) and Truancy Drop-Out Prevention where we seek to improve community safety and better address the interests of victims of crime.

Job Duties

The Juvenile Division is seeking an attorney with experience in criminal law preferably with prior juvenile/felony level filing cases negotiating cases and trial experience. The attorney will be responsible for vertically handling a large caseload of juvenile criminal matters. This attorney will be expected to effectively file negotiate and try cases. This position will also involve regular calendar coverage with occasional coverage on weekends via telecommute. The candidate should demonstrate an interest in applying Restorative Justice practices. Juvenile Division attorneys are also encouraged and expected to engage in community outreach as needed.

Location:The Juvenile Division is located in the Clark Children & Family Justice Center in Seattle. These positions are primarily in-person with some ability to telecommute each week as business needs allow subject to a telecommuting agreement. If a successful candidate is new to the Prosecuting Attorneys Office they may be required to work in-office four days every week for six months. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Salary:$103272 - $148165 Commensurate with 2 to approximately 10 years of experience.
