Job Description

Introduction

** THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO CURRENT CITY OF MILWAUKEEEMPLOYEES ONLY**

Purpose

The Workforce DevelopmentAdministrator collaborates with the Milwaukee Health Departments (MHD) human resources (HR) team and departmental leadership to develop and implement a comprehensiveworkforce development strategy. Additionally the Workforce DevelopmentAdministrator oversees the work of the MHD HR talent managementteam and the Workforce Development Coordinator.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Requirements

  1. Regular status as a City of Milwaukee employee having successfully completed a probationary period for a civil service position or status as a City of Milwaukee employee in a fixed-term position.
  2. Bachelors degree in public administration human resources public health industrial/organizational psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  3. Four years of professional-level experience in human resources training and development and/or workforce development strategy implementation.
  4. A drivers license and a properly insured vehicle at the time of appointment and throughout employment. Private Auto Allowance May Be Paid Pursuant to Section 350-183 of The Milwaukee Code.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may beconsidered.

  • Ability to effectively and positively represent the MHD before committees and the public.
  • Ability to handle staffing and performance issues including implementing performance improvement plans and discipline.

  • Organizational skills to maintain information and data that is accurate complete accessible and usable.
  • Ability to plan and accomplish work manage multiple assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to gather information needed for an issue seeking information from appropriate sources and working with others to obtain necessary information.
  • Ability to work independently and initiate and complete projects with limited supervision.

THE SELECTION PROCESSwill be job-related and willconsist of one or more of the following: an evaluation of related educationexperience and accomplishments an evaluation of written communicationinterviews and/or other assessment methods. The Milwaukee Health Departmentreserves the right to call only the most qualified candidates to proceed in theselection process. Information from the selection process will be used to makea hiring decision. Selected candidates will be transferred and/or promoted tothe position.

INITIAL FILING DATEThe selection process willbe held as soon as practical after the deadline listed above. Receipt ofapplications may be discontinued at any time after this date without priornotice. However recruitment may continue until the Citys needs have been applicant is responsible for attending all phases of the selection processat the time and place designated by the hiring authority.

NOTE:Transfer/Promotional Opportunities andPromotional Examinations are not open to Milwaukee Public Schools employees orto the public. Only current City of Milwaukee employees and civilian personnelin MFD and MPD hired through a City Service Commission process who havesuccessfully completed a probationary period for a Civil Service position orwho have a status as a City of Milwaukee employee in a fixed-term positionwill be considered. Individuals with exempt provisional temporary oremergency appointments are not eligible for transfer.
