Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Student Assistants are an integral part of the operation of the Financial Aid Office at SHU. Often the first point of contact for in-person visitors to the office Student Workers have various responsibilities whether assisting with navigating the services within Bayley Hall collecting documents offering support during evening chat sessions answering general inquiries or completing data entry and imaging.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answers general student inquiries regarding financial aid and student employment at the Financial Services Counter
  • Provides coverage for the lobby podium directing visitors to the various offices located within Bayley Hall
  • Assists with document collection scanning and logging
  • Helps with technical assistance during Evening with Financial Aid sessions
  • Completes reporting and outreach as requested
  • Other related duties as assigned
  • Availability to work Wednesday evening virtual sessions as needed

FEDERAL WORK STUDY REQUIREMENT

YES -- Federal Work Study eligibility required (check your 2025/26 Financial Aid Award Offer)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrollment as a matriculated student at least half-time for Fall 2025 at Seton Hall University
  • Capability to maintain confidentiality of all information received in the office (required to sign Confidentiality Agreement upon employment)
  • Eligibility for Federal Work Study funding for 2025/26 award year
  • Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
  • Ability to work shifts in 2 hour minimum increments
  • Availability to work Wednesday evening virtual sessions as needed

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience successfully working under pressure and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully maintaining positive intercultural and interpersonal relationships
  • Previous office experience
