The Team Youll Work With:
The Office of Advance is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of Mayoral events. The office works directly with a multitude of City Hall departments and Citywide Agencies to ensure all logistical aspects of events are arranged in advance; the office is also responsible for the management of staff at events to ensure each event runs smoothly.
The Problems Youll Solve:
The Deputy Director of Advance will report directly to the Director of Advance. The primary responsibility of the incumbent is to assist the Director when planning and executing the Mayors events. The incumbent must be flexible in terms of his or her work schedule work well under pressure be able to make in-the-moment decisions when necessary and work well with others. He or she should also be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail have good communication skills be creative and be willing to not only manage but also do the necessary physical and logistical work required for events. The responsibilities of the Deputy Director will include but are not limited to:
-Planning and managing the logistical production of official events such as press conferences town-hall style meetings rallies and a variety of photo opportunities
-Conducting walkthroughs and location scouts of venues in advance of identifying locations for Mayoral/City Hall events
-Assisting with the on-site event set-up
-Briefing the media and relevant guests in attendance at events with details regarding the background of the event and run of show
-Working closely with the communications press community affairs and intergovernmental affairs staff at events to ensure they understand their role in advancing the Mayors agenda
-Utilizing Principal Management skills to deliver necessary information and guidance to the Mayor and Senior Officials in order to successfully execute events/appearances
-Communicating with the appropriate teams the coverage detail of Mayors events
About You
-You have graduated from an accredited college with a baccalaureate degree and a minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience working in event planning event production or at a political organization
-You have experience working closely with high-level executives and/or political figures and possess the necessary principal management skills
-You have the ability to think outside of the box real-time problem solve and possess a strong attention to detail
-You have a valid drivers license for at least 6 months and are comfortable driving in NYC
-If you are living outside New York State or New York City you must be willing to obtain a New York drivers license and New York City residency if hired
-You have the ability to work well under pressure and maintain an enthusiastic work ethic including embracing different work styles
-You have a demonstrated commitment to equity and public service
-You possess cultural competency to effectively work with diverse populations
-You have at least one year of experience in a supervisor/managerial role preferred

Qualifications :
A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and three years satisfactory full-time experience related to the projects and policies to be studied in the particular position.
