Job Description

Position Description

Position Overview:
The Environmental Coordinator serves as the environmental subject matter expert providing critical support to ensure regulatory compliance across a variety of projects within Harris County including roadway drainage park and architectural design and construction. This role involves guiding project teams through environmental requirements assisting with permit acquisition environmental assessments and ensuring adherence to local state and federal environmental regulations. The coordinator works closely with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to integrate environmental compliance into all phases of project planning and execution.

Job Duties:

  • Serve as the environmental subject matter expert providing guidance on environmental regulations and compliance requirements for roadway drainage park and architectural projects.
  • Assist project teams in understanding and meeting local state and federal environmental regulatory standards.
  • Apply specialized knowledge of wetland regulations threatened and endangered species protection cultural resources management and hazardous materials handling to ensure comprehensive environmental compliance.
  • Support preparing submitting and tracking environmental permits and approvals.
  • Conduct environmental assessments and reviews to identify potential impacts and mitigation measures related to wetlands wildlife cultural resources and hazardous substances.
  • Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to integrate environmental compliance throughout project planning design and construction phases.
  • Monitor ongoing projects for adherence to environmental regulations and permit conditions.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to facilitate smooth project approvals and compliance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of environmental laws regulations and best practices applicable to Harris County projects.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation and reports related to environmental compliance activities.
  • Provide training and support to project staff on environmental policies and procedures.
  • Participate in disaster recovery efforts as assigned ensuring environmental considerations are integrated into recovery activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department and project goals.

General Information

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
Full-Time Regular 40 hours per week.
Subject to early mornings late evenings weekends and holidays at times depending upon the project or workload.
