Job Description

Job Goal:

To perform a variety of shipping/receiving activities maintain required inventory levels; ensure specifications quantity and quality of orders are correct; verify stock and identify losses; maintain an organized warehouse layout; and transport orders over designated routes.

Qualifications (minimum education licensure skills and/or experience):

  • High School Diploma from accredited high school or GED required.
  • Valid Louisiana drivers license required.
  • Preferred Qualification:
    • Inventory and delivery experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and participate in the shipping receiving organizing storing and issuing of District goods including supplies equipment and food for the purpose of assuring shipments are prepared for delivery and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Process a variety of reports in written and electronic form (e.g. requisitions paperwork reports etc.) for the purpose of disseminating information and/or materials to appropriate parties.
  • Receive USDA commodities paper and cleaning supplies and direct ship stock items for the purpose of ensuring specifications quantity and quality of orders are correct.
  • Check cooler freezer and dry storage temperatures daily and on call during holidays.
  • Routinely inspect stored inventory for any physical or chemical hazards.
  • Prepare orders by pulling from stock and that is generated by pick ticket. Load and unload delivery trucks for the purpose of receiving stock and/or filling orders for transport.
  • Drive vehicles (e.g. truck van forklift etc.) for the purpose of transporting orders and materials to designated sites.
  • Transport a variety of items (e.g. food supplies equipment etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or delivering materials as required.
  • Deliver a variety of items (e.g. food supplies equipment etc.) for the purpose of distributing items to assigned locations and/or individuals.
  • Perform physical inventory reconciliation for the purpose of verifying stock and identifying losses.
  • Maintain delivery vehicles (e.g. checking fluid levels fueling cleaning etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe operation of vehicle.
  • Routinely clean and washes Child Nutrition vehicles and schedule routine maintenance for Child Nutrition fleet vehicles.
  • Obtain quotes for equipment/maintenance purchases.
  • Maintain operations equipment such as pallet jacks.
  • Clean warehouse for the purpose of maintaining a safe and sanitary work area.
  • Respond to inquiries of food service and cafeteria staff for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding the status of deliveries etc.
  • Respond to emergencies (i.e. freezer/cooler and electrical outages) and pick up food and transports to cooler/freezer at central warehouse.
  • Maintain documents file and record (e.g. equipment and food transfer forms) for the purpose of documenting activities and providing materials and reliable resource information.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

Job requires use of various communication formats (in person over the phone via email and/or written documents) so hearing speaking reading and sufficient vision are required. Other physical demands include:

  • Extensive standing and kneeling.
  • Bending at the waist and reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store objects.
  • Frequent lifting of 50 pounds or more.
  • Frequent climbing and balancing.
  • Frequent stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling.
  • Carrying pushing and/or pulling.
  • Significant fine finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Generally the job requires 5% sitting 15% walking and 80% standing. The job is performed under moderate temperature variations. The noise level is moderate to loud.

Terms of Employment: 12 month (Salary in acccordance with Clerk Salary Schedule)

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel (Bulletin 130).
