Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Revenue Agent 1 position (multiple positions). We are looking for talented detail-oriented individuals to join our Collection Division in the Other Agency Accounts Unit. This position is headquartered in our Salem office; however the successful candidate may be eligible for in state hybrid work. Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely.
***During the first 2 weeks you will be required to be in-person in the Salem office for training.***
In order to be considered for Department of Revenue recruitments you must reside within the state of Oregon. Current Revenue employees who live outside of Oregon may apply and will be considered.
If you possess language skills in Spanish you are encouraged to apply!! We offer bilingual differential pay which is an extra 5% of the employees base pay and is contingent on passing the required language test. What You Will Be Doing
Below is a sampling of job duties. It is not meant to encompass all duties.
Initiatesresearch tocollect revenue on assigned customers accounts.
Review andverifythe capability forcollectionthrough the research of customer information public recordsand financial statements to effectively resolve the includes researchingcustomersaccount information to locate assets employment information or other sources of income to meetcollectionstandardsand expectations.
Contactcustomers and employers who are frequently hostile frustrated and/or upset by telephone or in person including occasionally being subject to profanity and threats of bodily harm for account resolution. Takeappropriate enforcement action including garnishment of assets bank accounts and wages based ondivision procedures.
Utilizethe agency systemdaily toresolvecollectionaccounts documentactions taken and make any changes needed to customer demographics
Extended and continuous use of a computer keyboard and phone system.
Requires sitting/standing up to 10 hours a day or 40 hours a week.

This Is What You Need to Qualify
Six months of customer service or call center experience that includes explaining customer balances and identifying discrepancies in the account balance requesting payment on current or past-due accounts or setting up payment arrangements; OR
One year of customer service or call center experience which involved explaining policies laws rules or regulations; and resolving problems or complaints which included dealing with customers/clients who were confused frustrated or hostile; OR
One year of experience working in support of a collection function or collection work performed as part of other major responsibilities.
NOTE: Some positions with the Department of Revenue require skill in speaking writing and understanding languages other than English.
The ideal candidate will possess the following desired skills and attributes:
Multi-tasking such as typing while talking on the phone.
Willingness to learn.
Self-motivated/self-starter.
Clear communication skills including active listening.
Patience and understanding.
Dependable.

This is an SEIU-represented position. This recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies as they occur.
The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying the salary range will reflect the additional 6.95%.
