ACCOUNTANT (JOURNEY)
The incumbent performs professional accounting duties in the preparation of financial reports and/or statements in the development review and maintenance of a departments accounting cost and other financial reporting systems that meet Federal State and local requirements in the collection and interpretation of financial information and in the analysis of financial records; monitors department financial systems to identify problems recommend changes and take corrective action to maintain integrity of the departments accounting systems. Employees in this class are expected to exercise sound professional judgment in the interpretation of Federal State local and general accounting policies.This class is distinguished from the:
Accountant (Senior) class which is the advanced journey class in this series and is responsible for performing more difficult financial and accounting tasks such as independently performing or acting as lead in performing specialized and more complex accounting claiming and financial reporting activities; and the
Accountant (Entry) class which is the entry class in this series and is responsible for learning to perform professional accounting duties in the preparation of financial reports and/or statements in the development review and maintenance of departments accounting cost and/or other financial reporting systems in the collection and interpretation of financial information and in the analysis of financial records.
The current opening is in the Treasurer Tax-Collector County-Clerk department. However the eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.
Based on the information provided in the application documents the qualified applicants may be invited for further examination and will either be pre-scheduled by the Department of Human Resources or be invited to self-schedule. All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. Depending upon the number of applications received the selection process may consist of an initial application screening a mandatory information meeting a supplemental questionnaire assessment a written and/or practical exam an oral board exam or any combination listed. Responses to supplemental questions may be used as screening and testing mechanisms and will be used to assess an applicants ability to advance in the process; as such responses to supplemental questions should be treated as test examination responses. A minimum score of 70% is required to continue in the selection process unless otherwise announced. Candidates who fail to submit their education verification by the final filing date will be disqualified from the recruitment.
