Perioperative Services Supervisor / Patient Care Tech and Procedure Area Tech Supervisor

Schedule: Monday through Friday Rotating Day shift hours (starting as early as 6 a.m.) 40 hours weekly. Rotating weekends and holidays

Location: ChristianaCare Hospital - Newark -Willing to travel to Wilmington

Oversees three- locations- Newark/Surgery Center ChristianaCare Hospital/Newark and Wilmington Hospital

We are seeking a Perioperative Services Supervisor to lead and advise the activities of assigned personnel engaged in providing patient care patient transport and environmental services. In this role you are responsible for daily workflow and preparing schedules and daily assignments for technicians. Adjusts daily work schedules to ensure adequate coverage of all areas. Check assigned areas to ensure work is being done accurately and personnel are following assigned schedules.

Responsibilities:

  • Resolve priorities and assign work to tech staff.

  • Serve as a communication liaison between tech staff and nursing leaders.

  • Engaging in recruitment and onboarding of new hires payroll and performance management.

  • Responsible for maintaining and performing the highest achievable level of technical competence and work performance.

  • Coordinate orientation training and continuing education for new hires. Guide orient and train employees on crucial job duties such as but not limited to: equipment operation and storage supply usage sanitation standards patient transport and cleaning techniques. Coordinate annual proficiency review/critical skills training in conjunction with the NPDS team.

  • Review formulate and draft policies and procedures and submit to nursing leadership for approval. Communicate to subordinates approved policies/procedures and ensure their compliance.

  • Participate in problem-solving troubleshooting and quality assurance activities. Completes monthly quality and efficiency reports.

  • Maintain an effective productive demeanor throughout the workday instilling a positive service-minded demeanor and feeling of pride in a job well done. Promote a professional image of the department to our customers and staff.

  • Maintains good public relations with all patients hospital and staff personnel.

  • Attends and participates in daily unit huddles.

  • Support perioperative services personnel during staffing needs/high volume to ensure all work schedules/discharges are completed.

  • Submit maintenance work orders for any repairs and follow up to ensure completion.

  • Completing environmental rounds daily including weekends/holidays including the cleanliness of all spaces in assigned areas. Always ensure maintenance of a stringently clean work area.

  • Effective follow-up on any incident or safety violations including on weekends/holidays.

  • Support all aspects of quality control programs.

  • Inspect equipment for safety and cleanliness and ensure quality controls are completed on point-of-care devices.

  • Assist supervisor with fleet management strategy and capital planning for equipment replacement/upgrade.

  • Assure staff are aligning with all state federal and local requirements.

Education/Experience:

High school graduate or equivalent

Nursing Assistant experience and certification preferred.

Two years of patient care experience is required previous Perioperative experience is preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

BLS must acquire within 6 months of hire.
