Mental Health Director - National Early Intervention Service (LiCBT)

Australian Healthcare Associates (AHA) is Australias largest specialist health and human services consultancy. We invest in people and enjoy industry-leading conditions and low staff are currently tendering for work to assist the Australian Government Department of Health Disability and Ageing to roll out a new national service to support individuals experiencing common mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression through evidence-based interventions delivered by trained practitioners via telehealth. This will eventually be a large-scale service with an anticipated staff base of >600 people and over 350000 registered users annually.

Were seeking expressions of interest from individuals to become the Mental Health Director for this service. If AHA is successful in relation to the tender process the successful candidate in this EOI process will be offered this position with expected commencement on 1 October 2025.

The Mental Health Director will be responsible for ensuring clinical excellence safeguarding help seekers and staff wellbeing staff supervision operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance across the service. The role also involves stakeholder engagement quality improvement initiatives and the advancement of service delivery models in line with national guidelines and best practice.

This role can be located in Melbourne Sydney or Brisbane with occasional visits to the Melbourne office required.

Key responsibilities:

Reporting to the Service Director the Mental Health Director will:

• Assist with establishment and implementation of the service including clinical frameworks referral pathways workflows overseeing the development and documentation of service protocols training materials procedures and operational guidelines.
• Engage in the recruitment of the Clinical Supervisory team and oversee the recruitment induction and training of the new service delivery team
• Ensure staff well-being is supported with clinical supervision aligned to peak body guidelines
• Provide leadership and clinical oversight of the service through clinical governance and adherence to national standards to ensure safe effective trauma informed and person-centred care.
• Ensure the service is delivered efficiently safely meeting clinical governance best practice standards clinical KPIs strategic objectives and compliance requirements
• Build high performing cohesive and resilient teams within a positive inclusive workplace culture that is trauma informed and has culturally safe principles.
• Ensure compliance with relevant professional legal and ethical standards and lead safeguarding and duty-of-care protocols for all help seekers and staff.
• Foster relationships with peak bodies and academic institutions and foster collaborative relationships with GPs mental health services and community organisations

Required:

• Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry Psychology Mental Health Nursing
• Unrestricted AHPRA Registration
• Minimum 15 years post-qualification clinical experience including experience in delivering and overseeing LiCBT services
• Demonstrated leadership in a mental health setting.
• Extensive knowledge of telehealth and digital mental health service models.
• Proven experience in clinical governance supervision safeguarding and performance improvement.
• Excellent communication interpersonal and change management skills.
