Position Summary:
The Instrumentation & Controls Technician disassembles inspects cleans repairs calibrates tests and performs periodic maintenance on field instruments equipment systems and controls to ensure product specifications and quality standards are met. This role includes evaluating systems for necessary modifications performing complex repairs and troubleshooting both scheduled maintenance and unscheduled issues. The ideal candidate has strong electrical troubleshooting skills is comfortable working independently or as part of a team and is passionate about hands-on work and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:
Promote and maintain a safe working environment and safety-focused culture
Demonstrate a high-impact culture through innovation accountability and empowerment
Care for and maintain company property
Work independently with minimal supervision and contribute effectively in a team setting
Build and repair electrical control panels integrating components such as transducers switches VFDs power supplies and PLCs
Use tools like multimeters and signal generators to diagnose low-voltage AC/DC signal issues
Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings
Update PLC software and provide remote field support as needed
Perform preventive maintenance and service electrical fleet equipment
Troubleshoot electrical systems diesel engines and pump problems
Create accurate parts and repair lists and coordinate with the Parts Manager for timely ordering
Support system setup on customer job sites and respond to after-hours repair calls as needed
Operate a service truck as required
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience:
35 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical controls and industrial equipment preferred
General knowledge of 3-phase 480-volt electrical systems
12 years of experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and PLC controls preferred
Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical control equipment including motor starter panels VFDs flowmeters and PLCs
Solid understanding of single-phase three-phase and DC electrical systems
Ability to read and comprehend electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
Proficient in using multimeters signal generators and other diagnostic tools
Experience updating PLC software and integrating control systems
Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to travel frequently and respond to field service calls on short notice
Comfortable with general math and standard/metric measurements
Preferred Qualifications:
Forklift certification
Experience working with electrical submersible equipment
Familiarity with AC/DC components and electrical testing methods
Prior experience in industrial equipment service and repair
Compensation:
The estimated salary range for this position is $23 to $26 per hour. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors including skills experience and work location.
