Position Summary Bancroft School seeks an Upper School English teacher to join our dynamic team of educators starting for the 2025-26 school year. We are looking for someone who can teach any level of Upper School English courses. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to engage students in meaningful inquiry problem solving and collaborative exploration. Developing students skills as critical thinkers analytical and creative writers positive contributors and collaborators is central to this position. Faculty must demonstrate a commitment to teaching the writing faculty are encouraged to bring fresh ideas to the curriculum integrating global perspectivesand a strong commitment to Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB). Experience in curriculardesign and implementation is expected and facility with educational technology is essential as UpperSchool students and teachers utilize a range of technological platforms to enhance Responsibilities
- Teach multiple sections and various levels of English - this includes all aspects of planninginstruction and assessment.
- Consistent and regular communication with students parents colleagues and advisors.
- In addition to classroom teaching the position includes participation in all aspects of school life including coaching club sponsorship and advising.
- Serve as a full community member by attending faculty meetings serving on committeesparticipating in admissions activities covering duties and other routine faculty responsibilities.
- Promote social and emotional growth by serving as an advisor to a group of students.
- Engage in professional development to enhance inclusive teaching and leadership practices. Theschool offers extensive professional development opportunities to support a racially andethnically diverse community that is informed self-reflective and characterized by respect andcareful listening.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in English or related education field
- Three to five years teaching experience preferred
- Experience in and enthusiasm for implementing inquiry-based learning
- Proven ability to differentiate instruction
- Familiarity with a variety of technological applications
