Job Description
Administrative Faculty Contract. Non Tenure Track Benefits Eligible. This is a full-time temporary/seasonal position. Appointment to the role on a permanent basis is contingent upon meeting additional recruitment requirements
This is an administrative full-time position with responsibility for all aspects of leading and managing the Workforce Career & Technical Education (WCTE) Division at Western Nevada College.
This position will work with faculty and staff to promote a positive teaching working and learning environment; work with local state and federal organizations and leaders to support college initiatives; and develop and promote academic programs and public/private partnerships that respond to regional workforce needs. This position will also oversee and maintain a variety of budgets and grants to include local state and federal.
The WCTE Director must have a broad and detailed knowledge of WNCs service area and CTE programs as well as knowledge of the workforce landscape associated with each. This position requires a demonstrated ability to exercise individual and group leadership that fosters team and consensus building collaboration conflict resolution task completion and creative problem solving.
Job Details:
Reports to the Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs (VPASA)
Primarily located at the Carson City Campus with some travel required throughout the service area and possibly statewide
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Masters degree (i.e. BA4 years related professional experience)
Three years of professional experience in workforce or career and technical education; workforce or economic development; or related field
Three years of experience in a leadership role to include supervising and evaluating staff
Two years of experience developing and implementing programs and curriculum
Two years of experience in budget management to include grants
One year of experience developing complex schedules preferably in an educational setting
Experience implementing programs and/or working in rural or frontier communities
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in or with higher education
Experience with a secondary educational system
Experience observing and evaluating instruction
Experience with local regional or statewide workforce development initiatives
Second language proficiency (written and oral) Spanish preferred
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all aspects of the CTE Division
Align division activities with the colleges strategic mission vision and goals
Understand and drive the divisions strategic vision updating/revising as needed; develop revise and evaluate short and long-range planning
Supervise evaluate and support full-time faculty and staff as well as adjunct instructors
Model open communication respect and collegiality within the division and throughout the college
Collaborate effectively with other college divisions/departments to ensure efficient and aligned use of available resources
Manage grants to ensure deliverables/outcomes are met; seek new funding opportunities that align with the strategic plan for the division
Effectively utilize available resources to support division success
Manage fiscal outcomes of the division
Develop and manage annual budgets overseeing expenditures accordingly
Ensure fiscal compliance and accuracy of grants
Oversee purchasing maintenance and inventory of division equipment and supplies
Provide reporting as required
Develop implement manage and evaluate academic programs
Maintain currency and accuracy of college catalog and related materials
Develop class schedules and instructor loads each semester in coordination with faculty and the VPASA
Lead an ongoing cycle of continuous improvement to ensure relevant and high-quality learning opportunities for students
Support and expand innovative curriculum delivery options for CTE programs
Expand CTE dual enrollment program opportunities
Oversee program Advisory Councils and accreditation requirements
Develop revise and deactivate academic programs as needed
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure CTE programs maintain relevance and alignment with regional and statewide needs
Conduct periodic community and workforce needs assessments to inform program relevance and alignment
Maintain awareness of local regional and state initiatives that impact CTE programs; ensure division participation in such initiatives as appropriate
Represent the division on college system and state boards/committees as assigned
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Starting Salary Information:
This position is at a salary grade D. The minimum of the placement range is $104645.12. The selected candidate will be placed at or above the minimum based on education and experience. WNCs placement range falls within the NSHE salary schedule: NSHE ADMINISTRATIVE SALARY SCHEDULE
