Job Description

Role: Hardware Engineer- mTIB Support (OCTA/NFTA)

Duration: Long Term

Location: Columbia MD- Hybrid


Justification: Required to assist the mTIB developer with integration and hardware validation support for transit systems at OCTA and NFTA.
Experience Level: 5-10 years

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide hardware integration validation and troubleshooting support for internally developed hardware boards to be deployed transit sites.

  • Collaborate closely with the product development team to ensure hardware and software components integrate seamlessly with existing transit infrastructure.

  • Conduct comprehensive hardware validation and acceptance testing to ensure system reliability performance and compliance with transit authority standards.

  • Support deployment configuration and commissioning of custom hardware in field environments.

  • Analyze hardware issues reported from field operations and develop effective corrective actions.

  • Work with cross-functional teams including software engineers system architects vendors and operations teams to resolve technical issues.

  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation for hardware configurations integration processes test plans and troubleshooting procedures.

  • Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations for hardware improvements based on field feedback and system performance.

  • Ensure compliance with safety security and regulatory standards applicable to public transit systems.

Technical Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or related field (Masters preferred).

  • 5-10 years of experience in hardware engineering integration and field support preferably within transportation or transit systems.

  • Strong understanding of embedded systems hardware industrial communication protocols (e.g. RS-485 CAN Modbus Ethernet/IP).

  • Experience with hardware validation test automation and system integration methodologies.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics wiring diagrams and system blueprints.

  • Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes multimeters protocol analyzers and network sniffers.
