The Water Resources Laboratory at the Everglades Research and Education Center is looking to hire a Postdoctoral Associate for a 3-year appointment. This is a grant funded position that focuses on research and extension related to Best Management Practices (BMPs) to reduce phosphorus loads in the Everglades Agricultural Area farms in south Florida. The objective of this research is to determine differences in performance in select farms in the EAA basins by evaluating the impact of soil chemistry and historical land use on P concentration and loads on these farms. The project includes advanced statistical tools and modelling to evaluate the influence of soil properties historical and current land use and environmental conditions on water quality in select farms in the EAA.
The successful candidate will work closely with lab personnel and collaborative farm managers on current research aimed at understanding factors impacting water quality on participating farms. Responsibilities include planning coordinating and participating in the sampling of water soil and sediment as well as maintaining effective communication with diverse stakeholders.

UF/IFAS employs nearly 4500 people which includes approximately 990 salaried faculty and 1400 permanent support personnel located in Gainesville and throughout the state. IFAS one of the nations largest agricultural and natural resources research and education organizations is administered by a Vice President and four deans: the Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences the Dean for Extension and Director of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service the Dean for Research and Director of the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station and the Dean for the College of Veterinary Medicine. UF/IFAS also engages in cooperative work with Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.
Commensurate with Education and Experience
A PhD (foreign equivalent acceptable) in the field of Soil Science Agronomy Agriculture and Biological Engineering or a related field is required. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system. Candidates must also have a commitment to UF core values.
