Part-Time 0.6 FTE Fixed Term until 30 June 2026

Thorne Harbour Health is seeking a passionate and committed Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Peer Support Worker to join our Therapeutic Services team in the Adelaide CBD. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference within the LGBTQIA community while supporting people navigating substance use and recovery.

About the Role

In this part-time position you will play a key role in supporting individuals and families through therapeutic and peer-informed practices. Your responsibilities will include:

Conducting assessments of client needs goals and safety across various life areas

Developing and coordinating case plans with actionable steps and timelines

Working collaboratively with other service providers for integrated care and referrals

Facilitating group workshops peer groups and family support sessions

Creating transition plans to support long-term self-management for clients

In addition to a pro-rata salary aligned with SCHADS Level 3 youll receive:

About You

Youll bring either:

A relevant tertiary qualification in AOD mental health social work counselling youth work community development or similar OR

Significant demonstrated experience providing peer support to families affected by substance use

In addition youll demonstrate:

Solid understanding of the AOD service system harm reduction and behaviour change strategies

Experience in therapeutic support for individuals families and/or groups from diverse backgrounds

A recovery-oriented mindset within a harm minimisation framework

Insight into the stigma related to both LGBTQIA identity and substance use

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Lived experience with alcohol and other drug use
