Job Description

We are looking for an experienced professional and enthusiastic Duty Manager (Hotel) to lead the Front Office team at Oaks Queenstown Shores Resort on a full time basis. Reporting to the Hotel Manager you will manage hotel operations during your shift assist all departments and address escalated issues with an emphasis on adaptability and effective problem-solving.

The moment a guest steps into our hotel you will make them feel at home with your welcoming and warm presence. You have the important job of leading your team and driving exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing an outstanding guest welcoming experience by demonstrating a commitment to service excellence and maintaining the front office and reception operational standards.
  • Meeting guests and owners when they arrive and ensure they are settled in their rooms.
  • Maintaining professional open and honest communication to assist guests and make accurate bookings.
  • Train guide & support the team in providing outstanding guest welcoming and experiences.
  • Process daily Trust Banking reconciliations and ensure that all daily tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Respond to and resolve guest complaints effectively timely and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate guest accounts and assist with daily reporting.
  • Effectively manage the team roster to meet budgets.
  • Support Hotel Manager with recruitment.
  • Overseeing and liaising with Housekeeping and Maintenance departments.
  • Coordinating Front Office and F&B activities to ensure guest packages are correct.
  • Purchase ordering and stock receipting.
  • Manage the service of alcohol in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines and procedures lead emergency actions and handle evacuation.

Expected minimum hours: 30 hours per week

Location: 327/343 Frankton Road Queenstown 9300 New Zealand

Hourly range: $28 - $31 per hour. (excluding contributions to KiwiSaver). Payment of wages will be processed on a fortnightly basis by direct credit to your nominated bank account.

Annual salary range approximate: $43680 - $48360 (excluding contributions to KiwiSaver).

Schedule 1 - Specific Terms and Conditions

Job Title: Duty Manager (Hotel)

Job Level: Unit Head

Employment Status: Full Time - Permanent

Commencement Date: To be confirmed

Reporting to: Hotel Manager

Breaks: Employees are entitled to paid rest breaks and unpaid meal breaks based on the number of hours worked. Breaks will be taken at times agreed to by the employer and employee or when the law says breaks must be taken. Leave Entitlements: As per Employment New Zealand - Leave and holidays Employment New Zealand and Holidays Act 2003.

Period of Notice: Four weeks


Qualifications :

To be successful in this role you will have:

  •  2 years experience in a managerial or supervisor role within a hotel environment is preferred
  • Previous experience working in a strata-titled property is advantageous  
  • Previous F&B experience is advantageous
  • Proficiency in hotel management software preferred (eg. PMS) and MS Office is advantageous
  • Exceptional people management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills and an unwavering positive attitude
  • Understanding of Trust accounting
  • A passion for delivering exceptional pro-active customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts including weekends and public holidays if required.

3. Suspension & Termination The company may suspend you (paid or unpaid) for investigations or terminate employment per notice in Schedule 1. Immediate termination applies for serious misconduct or other specified reasons. Garden leave may apply during the notice period.

4. Redundancy No redundancy compensation is provided but notice or payment in lieu is given. Offers of similar employment may exclude redundancy provisions.

5. Confidentiality & Intellectual Property Confidential information and intellectual property created during employment belong to the company. Disclosure or use outside duties requires written consent.
