Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards Cleanroom: no hair products jewelry makeup nail polish perfume exposed piercings facial hair etc... allowed Laboratory Setting Loud Noises (Equipment/Machinery) Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses gowning gloves lab coat ear plugs etc.)

Job Description

Summary:

In this role you will be participating a wide range of maintenance engineering activities throughout our production footprint. You will engage with colleagues at multiple levels and from several subject areas to work together to ensure we deliver an exciting and robust production facility to our clients!

You will take part and take accountability for maintenance activities (planned and unplanned) utilising operational excellence and continuous improvement activities. With the aim of improving equipment reliability and ensuring minimal equipment downtime.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn and Assist - Work closely with experienced engineers and technicians to learn about control systems and instrumentation principles equipment maintenance principles equipment and procedures.
  • Calibration: Assist in the calibration of sensors and instrumentation devices.
  • Problem solving: Identify and diagnose issues with control systems and instrumentation equipment and assist in resolving them effectively.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance repair and problem solving of machinery equipment and facilities to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Participate in scheduled preventive maintenance tasks to identify and address potential issues before they become critical.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed including equipment specifications maintenance logs and calibration reports.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in control systems and instrumentation technology through training and self-study.

Knowledge skill and experience

  • Entry requirements include a good level of Maths and English -you must have a GCSE grade 4/C or above in both subjects or a Functional Skills Level 2 qualification.
  • Understand emergency procedures and follow safe systems of work.
  • Only complete tasks that you have the knowledge and competency to complete.
  • Ensure compliance with environment health and safety rules signage and instructions always.
  • Strong interest in control systems and instrumentation.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic principles is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions.

About the apprenticeship

This hands-on program combines academic study with real-world experience. In the first year youll attend Swindon college two days a week to build a strong technical foundation. In the second and third years college attendance reduces to one day a week as you gain more on-the-job experience. Your final year is fully work-based giving you the skills and confidence to thrive in the engineering industry and work towards your End Point Assessment (EPA).
