Job Description
The Opportunity
The School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW Sydney is seeking a Project Officer / Senior Project Officer to support the operations of the Particles and Catalysis Research Group in the Faculty of Engineering. This important role provides high-level administrative support for the groups research activities driving engagements and communication to the Networks stakeholders and executive assistance to the Group Director. The position contributes directly to the smooth running of a large and complex research team and will be actively involved in initiatives such as the Power Fuels including Hydrogen Network (PFHN) within the NSW Decarbonisation Hub (NDIH) and the ARC Training Centre for the Global Hydrogen Economy (GlobH2E).
In this role youll provide high-level administrative and engagement support for the PFHN and related research initiatives including stakeholder coordination event logistics and reporting. Youll contribute to the delivery of communications materials and provide essential administrative support to keep key programs and projects running effectively. Collaboration is central to this position and youll work closely with project leads and the Business Managers to maintain momentum across multiple projects and activities.
Success in this position calls for a confident communicator with proven experience in writing editing and proofreading content for diverse audiences. Youll have a knack for analysing material and data to produce clear and impactful insights for reports promotional campaigns and stakeholder communication. Your creative strengths will support the development of targeted messaging and digital content across web and social media platforms. Youll also bring valuable experience in coordinating events and managing full project lifecycles with an ability to stay across logistics documentation and communications to ensure programs are delivered smoothly and on time.
This role reports to Scientia Professor Rose Amal Director of Particle and Catalysis Research Group and the Lead of Power Fuels Network and works closely with the Business Manager of PFHN and ARC Training Centre for Global Hydrogen Economy and has no direct reports.
- Salary Broadbanded level 6/7:
- Level 6 - $103866 to $110801 per annum 17% superannuation
- Level 7 - $113926 to $123301 per annum 17% superannuation
- Full time
- Fixed term contract 12 months with possible extension

Level 6
- Relevant tertiary qualifications with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience.
- Advanced communication skills including demonstrated proficiency in content writing editing and proofreading along with the ability to research and analyse material and data to summarise key issues for use in official communications promotions and reports.
- Creative content development skills and experience in designing promotional campaigns and developing and managing digital content for web and social channels including demonstrated ability to tailor content and messaging to audiences and channels.
- Demonstrated experience in event/project/program coordination with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans and objectives including managing logistics promotions communications documentation and reporting.
- Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive and professional relationships with staff at all levels and internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills accuracy and attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- Advanced level of computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications web content management analytics and reporting tools for website engagement and digital communications. Basic graphic design and simple video editing skills and familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite or other respective platforms are strongly desirable.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSWs aims objectives and values in action together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
Level 7 (in addition to the above)
- Proven ability to manage high-value programs and events from conception to completion including evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Excellent writing analytical and presentation skills including the ability to produce high-quality reports and briefing materials.
- Previous experience with Client Relationship Management (CRM) programs and databases such HubSpot Jira etc.
- Demonstrated experience working independently in complex multi-stakeholder environments with competing priorities and tight timelines.
