Job Description
Basic Functions: Performs a wide variety of responsible and complex secretarial and administrative support functions in support of the Student Services department and assigned administrator. This classification receives limited supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures that requires independent judgment. This job requires a high level of secretarial and organizational skills to perform responsible clerical reception and office support functions. This job provides critical service in a liaison capacity between the school the home and the community in order to improve school attendance and keep students in school; takes part in reducing problems which interfere with a students school adjustment and progress; assists in the coordination of mental health services; coordinates disciplinary hearings and placements; and performs related duties as assigned. Positions in this class require accurate record keeping attention to detail as well as skill to effectively and tactfully greet and respond to inquiries from both employees and the general public.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with school site staff (including teachers) attendance personnel counselors and specialists to provide activities which are designed to attract students to and keep students in
- Monitor students day-to-day activities as they relate to Receive and/or collect referrals from assigned schools regarding truancy and behavior problems.
- Work as a member of the Student Study Team and/or mini
- Visit homes to verify/clarify reasons for a students absence from Contact parents and community agency personnel to obtain background information to help understand problems.
- Advise students and parents regarding compulsory education laws and subsequent consequences of habitual
- Prepare and present cases of habitual truancy to the Student Attendance Review
- Process applications for hearings with the District Attorneys Office for parents who are negligent in obeying laws regarding school attendance of their Help identify alternate educational programs for students who are experiencing attendance problems.

- Gather collect and distribute information to staff parents and students related to school and community agencies and programs which provide assistance needed by families and
- Assist in connecting aid to needy
- Organize manage and schedule disciplinary hearings
- Prepare disciplinary documents related to expulsions and re-entries of students
- Identify motivational programs to be used in schools including career opportunity programs
- Assist with resource fairs and other District activities to support health and welfare programs
- Plans organizes and performs secretarial and administrative functions related to assigned program office activities and
- Compiles proofs assembles and organizes a variety of data/information as related to assigned functions
- Prepares a wide variety of material such as letters requisitions forms and various reports
- Establishes and maintains a variety of manual and computerized records and sometimes sensitive files relating to assigned functions.
- Maintains and prepares reports according to District requirements
- Orders supplies materials and equipment; maintains records of purchase orders invoices and expenses to date and inventories same upon arrival
- Assists with gathering /calculating/tracking budget and budget requests
- Attends faculty meetings; taking notes and preparing minutes
- Reviews and verifies reports records and other material for accuracy completeness and conformity with established standards

- Ability to coordinate activities and details and maintain effective schedules of events
- Ability to analyze situations and take appropriate action regarding routine administrative/procedural matters without immediate supervision
- Ability to operate a variety of standard office machines and equipment
- Ability to operate a computer system and learn various software programs with accuracy and function at a high skill level
- Ability to operate and maintain databases and other highly-technical software programs
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
