Job Description

The following vacancy exists in Goshen Community Schools for the2025-26school year:

GCS

High Ability Coordinator

POSITION PURPOSE: The High Ability Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the identification programming compliance and support of high ability students across the district ensuring that services align with state and district policies. This is a stipend position in addition to existing teaching or administrative duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate the annual identification process for high ability students including screening testing and placement decisions
  • Ensure compliance with Indianas High Ability Program guidelines
  • Write and submit in collaboration with the High Ability Director and the finance office the annual High Ability Grant
  • Collaborate with teachers to support differentiation and instructional strategies for high ability learners
  • Facilitate communication between school district and parents regarding high ability programming
  • Maintain records data and documentation for state reporting and audits
  • Assist in developing and/or reviewing curriculum and enrichment opportunities for high ability students
  • Assist in Planning and/or facilitating professional development related to high ability education
  • Serve as a liaison with the states Department of Education regarding gifted programming updates
  • Lead or participate in the GCS High Ability Broad Based Committee

RESPONSIBILITIES (In collaboration with administration):

  • Be an integral part of the building leadership team which meets outside of the normal school day.
  • Support a positive school culture and exhibit a solution-based approach to challenges and engage in crucial conversations as needed.
  • Analyze student data and assist in creating school and grade-level achievement
  • With oversight of the administrator plan and facilitate PLC grade level meetings/trainings and provide appropriate follow-up.
  • Assist in developing PLC team SMART goals and the strategies designed to meet these goals.
  • Develop agendas for PLC meetings.
  • Complete and submit PLC feedback forms to the building principal.
  • Create opportunities to celebrate short and long-term accomplishments.
  • Attend meetings as assigned.
  • Guide the integration of the NIET (National Institute for Excellence in Teaching) Teaching and Learning Standards Rubric into grade/content level planning.
  • Team with colleagues demonstrate model lessons and develop and help implement curriculum.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by building and/or district administration.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid teaching license (required)
  • High Ability endorsement or certification
  • Knowledge of best practices in gifted education differentiation and compliance requirements
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in event coordination preferred
  • Proficient organizational skills and the ability to learn new technologies
  • Proficient proofreading spelling and writing skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Contributes to a positive team atmosphere

SALARY:$2500 Stipend
