Job Description

Overview

This position supports the work of the Y a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development healthy living and social responsibility. The Adult Intensive Outpatient Program Counselor-LCADC at The YMCA of Greater Monmouth County intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming genuine hopeful nurturing and determined.

In 12-15 hours per week this clinician fulfills the clinical and administrative duties required for the Adult IOP and carries an assigned caseload of IOP Adults substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Clinical services are offered in compliance with agency requirements for licensure and accreditation. Administrative duties include consulting with Drug Court ISP and other referral sources as well as preparing reports and working in cooperation with the Adult IOP Coordinator. This individual provides education crisis intervention case management and assists with discharge planning. Individual group and family therapy and parent support are the core clinical duties of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Offers all clinical aspects of the Adult IOP and referral source consultations and assists the agency with the duties of the IOP Coordinator in the Coordinators absence.
  • Offers Recovery Maintenance Group and acts as Primary Counselor for participants. Offers Family and Friends Group for loved ones of IOP participants.
  • Carries a caseload of 8-10 IOP and/or Outpatient clients who receive individual sessions.
  • Provides conjoint and/or family sessions on an as-needed basis.
  • Comply with necessary documentation for all administrative aspects of the adult IOP including monthly client progress reports as well as all recordkeeping is maintained professionally and as required as well as demonstrate proficiency in the use of the Electronic Health Record.
  • This Counselor provides evaluative services treatment planning clinical treatment referral services therapeutic interventions and discharge planning as well as monitors client progress related to psychotropic medication.
  • Applies the Stages of Change Theory Motivational Interviewing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Rational Emotive Therapy and other effective therapeutic approaches.
  • Adheres to confidentiality limits as required by law and licensing.
  • Attends and actively participates in Outpatient staff meetings and clinical supervision.
  • Represents The Community YMCA in a professional and positive manner within the community and with agency referral resources and is supportive of Community YMCA Annual Campaign fundraising efforts.

Qualifications

  • This position is substance abuse specific and requires the expertise of a clinician trained and experienced in substance abuse treatment with a Masters Degree in Psychology Clinical Counseling Social Work or other related Human Services concentration is preferred accompanied by New Jersey licensure LAC/LPC LSW/ LCSW or eligibility. Additionally LCADC/CADC licensure or eligibility is required.
  • It is additionally required this Counselor demonstrate competency with regard to planning treatment for clients who receive treatment for substance use disorders.
  • This Counselor also needs to demonstrate familiarity and an understanding of the IOP level of care as well as competency in individual group and family therapy.
  • Other required skills include the ability to conduct a diagnostic interview for identifying co-occurring disorders and formulating a relevant treatment plan in tangent with the program supervisor.
  • Also needed is the ability to speak and write in a clear and concise manner.
  • This position requires an individual who demonstrates the ability to apply a motivational approach to treatment as well as an aptitude for engaging clients and their parents/guardians.
  • Demonstration of a high level of cultural competence sensitivity and responsiveness is also necessary.
