Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager of SEC Reporting to join our Corporate Accounting team. This high-impact leadership role is responsible for overseeing Caterpillars external financial reporting and plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements. In addition to leading the preparation and review of the companys public filings this role also supports our monthly close process by managing the accounting and forecasting for stock-based compensation and restructuring activities.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the preparation review and filing of SEC documents including 10-Qs 10-Ks
  • Support the review of the earnings releases and other periodic reports
  • Coordinate across finance legal investor relations and business units to ensure accurate and timely external reporting
  • Monitor changes in U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations and assess their impact on Caterpillars financial statements and disclosures
  • Oversee monthly close activities related to stock compensation and restructuring expense including analysis journal entries and forecasting
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide guidance on disclosure issues
  • Partner with internal and external auditors to support quarterly reviews year-end audits and internal control testing
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of professionals fostering continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration

What Skills You Will Have:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in Accounting or equivalent; CPA or CMA certification required. 7 years of progressive accounting experience (A plus if in SEC Reporting and/or at a multinational public company). Proven supervisory experience. Strong expertise in U.S. GAAP and SEC Reporting. Experience with GBS models desirable.
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP): Knowledge of the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); ability to apply GAAP appropriately within the organization.
  • Finance and Accounting: Knowledge of finance and accounting practices financial analysis and reporting; ability to apply finance knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
  • Business Acumen: Knowledge of business concepts tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the companys business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Organizational Governance: Knowledge of the processes customs policies and rules affecting the way the organization is administered and controlled; ability to ensure compliance with governance guidelines and policies.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Public accounting background and/or experience at a multinational public company
  • Previous SEC Reporting roles
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with Workiva E*Trade

Additional Info:

  • The primary location for this position is Irving TX
  • 5-days in the office
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for those who qualify

Summary Pay Range:

$156000.00 - $234000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors job level market locationjob-related knowledge skills individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
